Has signed for Dorking for an undisclosed fee. I thought the NL was subject to the transfer deadline dates, except for loans. Maybe I'm mistaken.

That's a blow - player of the year last season. Apparently he's from Sutton so this is closer to home.
Hope we got a good fee for him, he's been good for us and is a quality player. And, may I say, not well used by management this season.
Would explain the loan deal for Jayden Harris, perhaps.

He's been woeful this season, and this would probably appear to be why.

Are you saying he was deliberately playing badly just to get a transfer??? Seems an odd tactic???

I agree with sotonspitfire that there's probably a story under this but.... He's mostly been played out of position, in a team with glaring deficiencies in midfield (RH appears to have fixed that by playing an extra defender, for the time being), and has been in and out of the team. Also his midfield partner from last year, JJ Mackiernan, moved on in the summer. I'd have thought that's an environment which wouldn't encourage a player to produce his best form. Wasn't he captain for one game? I think I saw him play well once recently (Kidderminster?), when he was back in his normal position in centraL midfield and there were five at the back behind him. But for him to thrive there, he needs a ball-winner to partner him (like JJ) and that's what we've been missing this season, as I've been saying all season. Mind you, his new manager doesn't appear to think much of the club he will be joining: talksport.com/football/fa-cup/1602826/marc-white-viral-post-match-interview-dorking-wanderers/

SD has commented this week on the spitfire supporters club Facebook page I can't seem to copy the post on my phone for some to put on here. But might be worth replicating on here just to remind people what sort of situation is happening the club at the moment

Here you go, Cal.
Stewart Donald Top contributor A very forward thinking and ambitious club but is it true that they are Out the FA Cup to Horsham with a volley of expletives by the manager smashing his players. Behind us in the League and behind us in the form guide. We have more season ticket holders I believe and their crowds are 20 percent below ours. We have spent 1 million on our stadium this season which is more then their council owned facility has invested I think. So which realistic terms have you based your view on?

This was a response to a pretty bland statement by CC as part of joining the club. One thing you can say about them is that they're ambitious, so he said it. They also have good financial backing and have made a lot of progress in a short time
SD is right in saying that we're further along with our ambitions (despite what some people might say, and given any current things that may be going on, he's obviously continuing to do great things for the club).
But that's not answering the question - if we're so good, why did he leave? From the outside, I feel he was mismanaged in some way and therefore wanted to leave for somewhere in the same geographical area, who are on the up, and might make him feel happier.

Was more on about the follow up re: ST don't cover any costs. Bar losses etc. Might help some fans to realise how fortunate we are with current owner

From the outside, I feel he was mismanaged in some way and therefore wanted to leave for somewhere in the same geographical area, who are on the up, and might make him feel happier. There was an "undisclosed transfer fee" involved. As has been pointed out, they have good financial backing, so they may have made an offer we couldn't turn down?

I think you'll find there have been two managers here this season. Carter hasn't flourished under either. Yes, it's possible that there was an offer we couldn't refuse, especially when our player of the year last season was often sidelined this season and wasn't playing well.
If you read my previous posts, I think I've tried to be fairly neutral about RH - I've said a couple of times that he's done well to stabilise things after our poor start to the season (I've even said what I think he's done to improve things), even if I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get someone else. Whether we push on now remains to be seen. The influence he had over the summer transfers, keeping LB on at the start of the season, who the applicants were for the manager's job, the decision to take it on himself - all these are still up for discussion as far as I'm concerned. I certainly have no inside information. Anyway, it's all done (for now) and what matters is seeing the team do well. And not p*ssing off any more of our better players.
