National League sides go into Monday's draw along with the survivors from today's 3rd Round.
Some interesting teams from the National League South and below will be "in the hat" including in the Southern section -
Chichester City, Weymouth, Billericay Town, Dartford, Havant & W, Poole Town, Royston Town, Hayes & Yeading, Potters Bar, my old village team - Kings Langley, Whyteleafe, Margate, Maldon & Tiptree, Dulwich Hamlet, Carshalton Ath, plus a few who have to replay; Kingstonians or Weston-Super-Mare, Canvey Island or Bowers & Pitsea, Wealdstone or Bristol Manor Farm.

The draw for the Emirates FA Cup fourth round qualifying will be broadcast live on talkSPORT 2 at 1.30pm on Monday afternoon.
The draw will be conducted by 2001 FA Cup winner Danny Murphy and John Motson.
Forty clubs will advance to this stage of the competition, split across a northern and southern draw, following this weekend’s third round qualifying ties.
Winning clubs in the fourth round qualifying will earn £18,750 from The FA prize fund

Thats a tidy sum. Of course if we do win then the door is open to the potential of several times that in additional prize money, gate & TV money etc etc.
We have a slightly odd record in the FA Cup:
In the last 6 years we have faired better away at football league opposition (2 wins and 2 defeats) than
playing at home to teams from a lower league (1 win, 1 draw and 2 defeats).

Welling have to date scored 11 goals in 2 games against lower league opposition in this season's F A Cup. Some familiar names currently at Welling, but there will not be many players on either side who featured in the last match we played at Welling.
Our recent F A Cup record away to football league clubs may be better than our recent home record against football league opposition may be better in terms of results, but not in terms of goal difference.

It is winnable though, if the management approach it properly and not just regard it as a game we can afford to loos, which was richard hills outlook, and as he was assistant to hilly possibly strevs might be from the same stable

I don't believe any serious management team goes into an FA Cup qualifying round not wanting to win.
There are caveats though.
If I were managing a side drawn away against a team from the league below, I wouldn't risk selecting any players whose fitness was not 100%. We know that the standard of refereeing is awful these days and our strikers especially might find they get little protection against a very enthusiastic set of defenders with something to prove.
I might also be tempted to see it as an opportunity to give game time to "fringe" players who need it and deserve it but who are not getting a start when 3 points are at stake.
Managers have to get the best out of the sparse resources at their disposal across the season. They know that if they progress to the third round proper of the Cup but finish in the bottom three end of season they will be looking for a new job. On the other hand they might be knocked out of the Cup at the first hurdle but so long as they finish the season in or near a play off place they are probably going to be able to carry on paying the mortgage next year. C'est la vie!

I think it is true that we often fielded reserve and fringe players in cup games, but it is perhaps worth pointing out that despite some disappointing cup results Richard Hill was the first Eastleigh manager to lead the club to the F A Cup 2nd round proper and is the only manager to take it to the quarter finals of the F A Trophy.

really back for more? i could name a few weak forays into cup football that were pathetic bearing our league standings at the time,such as Burgess Hill twice, chippenham town, Leighton Town ,Chasetown, harlow Town, Hemel Hempstead, and then FA Cup Hampton & Richmond last season !! Oxford City twice,Gloucester City,Hereford , I cany wait to see what we do this season.

I would say that clearly the worst of these was defeats was at the hands of Harlow. Harlow were two divisions below is and the team that was put out lost 2-0 and was never likely to get anything out of the game. It is perhaps worth pointing out that we have also won quite a lot of games against lower league opposition as well and whatever else you say about the other defeats to teams in this category the majority were lost to a team one division below and by the odd goal or after a replay in which the game could have gone either way.

With the Welling game approaching fast it will be interesting to see if there really will be any correlation between the Richard Hill tenure and what we can expect from Ben Strevens (as expected by hey55 according to his earlier post). Based on the RH management record I really hope that there will be.
In Richard Hill's first season in 2012/13 we reached the play offs and only went out on penalties in the play off semi final at Dover. That was after going out of the FA Cup early that season to Gloucester at Cheltenham not long after RH had taken over from Ian Baird. I have to say that, although hey55 includes Gloucester in his list of lower position teams we've lost to, they were actually in the National League North that season so were at the same level as Eastleigh.
In Ben Strevens' first season, 2018/19, we reached the play offs and only went out in the play off semi final at Salford on penalties. That was after going out of the FA Cup early that season to Hampton and Richmond. It's fair to say they were one league below us but you can't say that the then caretaker manager didn't prioritise the match when he thought his job would depend on winning it. After the defeat he was reported as saying that the loss to H&R had probably finished his chances of getting the manager's job.
Just as an aside, in the aforementioned play off semi final defeats, Chris Zebroski had his penalty saved in both the shoot outs.
Richard Hill's second season saw us win the league to move up into the National League. That of course was after losing earlier that season to Oxford City in the FA Cup. Again, while hey55 includes Oxford City amongst so called lower sides as he did with Gloucester, they also were a National League North side, so also at the same level as Eastleigh that season.
Now, if in Ben's second season as manager he follows the Hill tradition and we lose to Welling and then go on to win the league, I will be more than happy.
The one other early FA Cup exit against genuinely lower league opposition in the last seven years was v Hereford in 2017 and was, I think, just after RH came back to try to pick up the pieces from the debris left behind at the end of Martin Allen's tenure as manager. I think it's fair to say that things did get better from there on.
