Zeb has been great; one big problem - he doesn't score goals. Important for a striker. As sure as I can be PM will not be with us, which means signing 2 guys who can score 35 goals between them...easier said than done. We also need cover for Reda if/when he is injured. Story of the last couple of months - solid when Reda plays, all over the place when he doesn't. That has to change. As for the manager, I think we need to end long term contracts for virtually everybody and that includes the manager. It should be a 1 year rolling contract.

From what I’m told all contracts are now only 1 year deals where the club has the option to trigger a 1 year extension at the end of the contract. Some older players have appearance based contract extensions in them, hence Réda staying on again. He and Wynter will be massive for us at the back. Another CB to come in, maybe Hobson on a season loan for cover.
Depending on who stays I’d like to see 2 strikers come in minimum, another Yeates style player, a midfielder with a real engine on him to get stuck in (in the Stanley or Jason Taylor mould), another CB and a full back who can play either side. Obviously a keeper too, I imagine we’ll dip into the loan market for a couple of them depending on available funds!
And exciting summer ahead I think. Roll on the new season. I cannot wait for it to get started!

Surely we've got to try and get Nathan Ashmore from ebbsfleet.... Now avaliable on a free transfer. Also believe he lives local.

McCallum looks to be signing for Solihull today, that’s a shock. Clearly they have offered him a lot more than we did. In fact I’m pretty sure we’d have offered him less than what he was on last year. I wouldn’t expect too many more to sign on either from the offered contracts list. Not even Ben Strevens has signed on yet!! All sounds a little worrying to me!

What, on the basis of PM looking to sign for someone else?

He mentioned something about being offered way less than he wanted and then announced the next day that he was leaving us! Just put 2 and 2 together!

Like I said in a previous comment that could’ve been about orient not offering him what he wanted as he’s rumoured to of rejected a move to the football league. Solihull are apparently making a big announcement at 3 today wonder what that could be😩.
As for eastleighs funding got to be worried if he goes to someone like Solihull, pretty sure they’re still part time 😝. Possibly yeates as well that would be a double blow

Solihull Moors must be the most improved side in the National League. Having moved from looking likely to go down during the course of 2018/19 they finished runners up last season and were not far off top spot.
They recently signed Mitch Hancox who was part of Macclesfield's title winning side of 2018/19 on a two year contract.

I recall Kenny making it clear to us at one of the recent fans forum evenings that 2019/20 would, unless EFC were promoted, see a significant reduction in the available budget. The club has been working hard to increase commercial sponsorship income but the impression I have is that we are still going to see the playing budget down on what we had available in 2018/19.

Which is interesting considering SD said the club would bring in over £2.5M a year. I was very surprised it was that much and I did think that was very far wide of the mark when he said it.
Will be an interesting summer. What’s more interesting is players like Greener and Hare, who are likely on considerably less wages than Johnson, McCallum, Yeates et al were actually our better players last year. So would be interesting to see players like them coming in and proving themselves at our level. Over to you recruitment team...

This is the crucial bit.
Even more than last season, we are going to have to unearth some gems from lower league, and finding young hungry players leaving FL clubs and wanting to prove themselves afresh...
We didn't do too badly last season (last season there was an experienced core to help) but this coming season will be harder.
As long as I see the same effort from the new players as I did last season I'll be happy. But I'm not expecting another playoff place (not that i did last time ).
Solihull have come into some money (can't remember where from) but don't underestimate Tim Flowers' achievement last season.

I didn't know what our budget was last year and i don't know what it is this year. However I'm pretty sure it will be competitive and it is unlikely to be one of the bottom 6. We need to make sure we don't go down the road of talking down the club, and suggesting we are going to implode and all of a sudden start to struggle. I remember all those posts from last year suggesting we were going to struggle to stay up and some saying we would for sure be going down. I didn't buy it last year and I wouldn't buy it this. We are still a good size club for this level, with a decent ground, a good fan base, with potential to grow. We have some very good people at and around the club, and I see no reason why we shouldn't be at least a mid table side in the coming season.
Not the first time I've said it, but what we need more than anything is a really decent cup run, if we could make it to the 3rd or 4th round of the FA cup and the later stages of the trophy it would be massive for this club. I hope this season we prioritise these games, they could make or break the season.
