We could do with improving our home form (two 0-1s in the last three) - not sure this is the game where we'll do it. Hartlepool are a good, solid mid-table team this season who will improve next year.
I'll go 1-1 with a crowd of 2000. Looking forward to seeing Sam Matthews again.
Last season's 4-3 was the best game I saw at the Silverlake.

The only thing I'll predict is a very large crowd. 2,350.

If you're going to start a thread, have enough respect for the opposition to spell their name correctly and with a capital letter to start.

Great win today in an entertaining match spoilt only by a poor referee who seemed unable to let the game flow and by a nasty moment when a bottle was thrown from the 'pool "supporters" at Luke Southwood in the last minutes of the match.

That's OK, the team sheet called them Hartleppol :-)
Another very entertaining matchup between these two sides, which I think we deserved to win although we were hanging on at the end as usual.
All three of our goals from corners/free-kicks, our visitors won't be happy about the way they conceded any of them, although the first one was right off the training ground.
Cracking first half with both keepers making good saves. Second half I though Pools weren't quite as good as in the first so we looked a bit more comfortable.
Individually, Yeates benefitted from not being man-marked and had his best home game for ages. Hobson did quite well on his debut and scored the winner. Sam Matthews looked like he hadn't played for a while but kept trying and will doubtless be valuable in the run-in. Jones had a great game, and as I said Southwood made some good saves too. Just as they didn't man-mark Yeates, we didn't man-mark Noble and he showed what a good player he is in the first half.
All in all an important win and some results went our way again. Ref seemed to have trouble working out what a fair challenge was and booked far too many players.

Missing our two big players today, managed fine without PM, and I thought we looked dangerous every time we attacked; however did we miss RJ. First half our defence was all over the place, and on another day we would have been 3-1 down at the break. Second half was a lot better, though we still failed to deal with their pacey front men and even at 3-1 it never felt comfortable. I think Barnet will offer another stiff challenge and if Reda is going to be missing again, I hope Monday can be spent devising a defensive shape. I thought our keeper was very good today, time for the back 4 collectively to take some responsibility. We are very close to a top 7 place, but are not there yet. Hopefully a big crowd Tuesday. Certainly anyone who was new today should turn up - for the neutral a really cracking game.

Didn't make today, instead followed it nervously online. We seem to be very good at winning narrowly. Hope PM and RJ are not for too long & great to see other scores go fairly well for us.
We really are in a great position. Am sure everyone at the club will be determined to get that PO spot all the hard work has put us close too.

time for the back 4 collectively to take some responsibility. Eh? You cannot be serious! I think the 4 individual players would quickly take issue with you over that comment, Michael. We played some excellent football today, especially at set pieces. First half, Hartlepool were also playing the ball around superbly, with Liam Noble outstanding in his passing. Second half, we changed our tactics to allow them less options and it worked. A very good game at our level, and yes, the non commited would probably have enjoyed the game. Big relief at the final whistle. One day we're going to win a home game by more than one or two goals.

Eh? You cannot be serious! Very serious. As ever its all about opinions and IMO first half it was like a knife through butter, every time Hartlepool attacked we looked vulnerable. Now I acknowledge that Hartlepool played some very good football, but lets not kid ourselves they are a midtable team for a reason, and we should not be conceding that number of chances to anybody, especially at home. It was a very good game of football and had I not been biting my finger nails from first to last, I might have enjoyed it. If we are going to get over the line, we have to do better defensively. I thought we badly missed Reda and I hope he is back for Tuesday.

Pretty sure we played with a back 5 not a back 4. And one of them won MoM. As I see it the problem isn't the defence - it is the midfield often being too deep when we are defending. It was interesting to see the formation yesterday. Only one front man meant fewer high balls and more football, but also many times when we had no one in the box. Good to see Strevs experimenting. Thought Hobson did well in his first full game (not his debut as the announcer said). It was not perfect yesterday but a new formation + integrating two players who had not started before in the current team pleased enough. Just hope we can keep Jones fit.
