I do not personally think that any of the comments particularly negative. Certainly a young bench and it will be a challenge for any of these players if injuries dictate that they need to start, and I do not think there could be any doubt that PM and RJ are key players.
However I think it is fair to say that the team is showing greater resilience than in the past.

Announced as 2120 (away 44).
I didn't think it looked quite that much, but a pretty good turnout for the visit of the bottom team. And they should have enjoyed what they saw...

And they should have enjoyed what they saw... 1st half yes; result yes but 2nd half officiating? More a drama featuring a little man in black with overblown ideas of the so called rules of football. Attention seeking at its worst. No doubt entertaining for those that watch soap operas but not those wishing to see a fairly played game of football 😞

Yesterday there was a bit of everything - excitement, a few good passing moves (not that many, to be honest), some good tackles, some dodgy tackles, and some controversy.
Also some character and cojones shown by both teams, for different reasons - one team having to overcome the handicap of injuries and a red, the other fighting for their league position.
I found the game held my interest to the end, both teams gave it a go, and was impressed with the way Eastleigh held out despite their problems. That's why I enjoyed it.
What was missing?
As for the ref: IMO on the key points: 1) he listened to his linesman to reverse his decision to give us a corner leading to the first goal; 2) I may be in a minority, but I thought he got the penalty decision right; 3) Cav Miley's second yellow was absolutely correct. 4) From hearing some of the comments from Braintree, Yeates might have got away with something in that clash when they both slid in just after the goal. Yes, we 'won' 6-1 on bookings, some for dissent about the penalty, but I saw both touchlines moaning about the ref, so in that respect I don't think it was 'unfair'.
Anyway, as I said, controversy is part of the game and certainly didn't spoil it for me - the way the home team overcame adversity left everyone around me feeling good after the game rather than bad. Unlike a few games this season (e.g. Hampton and Richmond in the FA Cup). Mind you, the previous home game v Sutton was good both for football and for the close finish (which went our way), but little controversy. Just goes to show there are many reasons why people might enjoy/not enjoy a game.
And by the way, a good crowd yesterday, and a good atmosphere - lots of singing, and getting behind the team.

And that's what makes it such a fascinating game. I would have to agree the atmosphere is coming back which must help the players. I certainly enjoyed it although I haven't got any nails left.👍⚽️

Great game some dodgy decisions by the ref. My choice M.O.M would of been Zebroski ran his socks of yesterday glad to see him back in the team last few weeks. Let's hope the injuries are not to serious and looking forward to Salford next weekend. Let's bring the noise!!!

I sympathise with Martin's view on the previous post - it does seem a bit churlish to end a post with the comment that the squad isn't good enough after our superb recent form has just been rounded off by overcoming a very eccentric refereeing performance and a recently sound opposing team, plus a sending off which never should have been, to battle our way to three points. I think michaelefc's point might have a pragmatic relevance in terms of technical quality across the squad but this applies to every team below the very top levels. On Cav Miley's dismissal most people around me thought his second yellow was deserved but not the first booking. I would love to see the clash again which led to Mark Yeates' booking. That took place immediately below my stand seat and it looked to me like the Braintree player hit him in the face then started rolling around himself to distract attention from his culpability. The doctor took a very brief look at him, clearly decided there was no problem and then had to spend a long while checking out Mark Yeates. Regarding that ref, my very knowledgeable blue stand neighbours always take an unbiased view of referees' decisions and often defend decisions which many of our passionate supporters object to. I think this match was the first at which I have seen them unanimously condemn many of the crazy rulings and bookings which were dished out by the official in the middle. That includes the penalty. Paul Mc, who watches football for a living, was at this game and was equally confounded by the referee's performance as the rest of us. Someone mentioned in his defence that he was willing to change his decision to award a goal kick when the linesman pointed out it should have been a corner (the corner from which we scored our first goal). In fact that only said to me that he knew he had given the wrong decision. He was on top of the action when the ball went out of play and had a very clear view. He would have seen clearly that the ball came off a Braintree player. Everyone else in the ground could see that including the linesman who was on the opposite side of the pitch and to whom he demurred. So why did he initially give the decision to Braintree? Back to the football, I thought it was fair to give Luke Southwood the mom ward and he was outstanding. It could though equally have gone to Chris Zebroski whose impact on the game was multi dimensional. He kept two or three Braintree defenders back in their half when we were defending set pieces. They were never able to break in numbers because of the counter attack threat posed by his pace. His energy and work rate would put to shame players many years younger and there is no doubt that he is an inspiration to his team mates and supporters. He can have the whole ground on its feet. Finally what a management team. Whatever we do or don't do for the rest of the season - even if we now lose more than we win with our very lightweight squad - they have fully justified the club's faith in them.
