"at no.1 itโs Michael Green...." I think I'd stick with Max at No 1, if you don't mind. It's exactly that sort of blinkered vision that has hampered out progress (but yes I agree wholeheartedly ๐)

On the subject of Michael Green the club did have a goalkeeper called Michael Green who played one match for the club seven years ago and he later played for Gloucester against us in an F A Cup tie in which there were three Michael Green's on the pitch including our own number 3.

This was decent. Chesterfield were very hard working and direct as you would expect and MA gave the fourth official an earful from first to last, so no surprise there then. We stood up to them though and worked very hard, coming on strongly in the last few minutes and nearly winning the game when we hit the post. I thought overall a good game, we will play worse and win. I liked the fact that we had options all over the place, long balls were aimed at someone and not just hit and hope and we were solid throughout the team. I am not sure we are yet play off material, but I am sure we are improving and we do have a chance. If we can have a run in the trophy and finish top 10, that, for me would represent a decent season. As long as the team work as they did today, you'll hear no complaints from me.

Agree with all that - decent game, Chesterfield were not bad at all, combining the long ball with some good passing moves. Hard to tell why they've not won in 18 league games on this performance - final ball, perhaps? And they won't be happy about their defending for our goal.
I thought we used the long ball more than usual today (in tribute to MA?), and felt it was less effective than when we got it down and passed, as we have done recently. Individually, the front two worked well for little reward, I thought they had more of the ball despite our five in midfield (might 4-4-2 have been better?), but as I said the final ball was either inaccurate or snuffed out by our defending (apart from their goal - nice finish, but one we maybe could have prevented?). Denton was a difficult opponent, as predicted, but Boyce and Wynter handled him well. Yeates was always useful, but I thought he was particularly good in the last 15 when we were pushing for the winner.
Max's kicking seems to have got worse recently (no comment as to why :-))
Playoffs - still not much chance, IMO, but I hope we take the Trophy seriously for a change.

Pretty decent performance. Made enough chances to score more than once. Had Paul Mcs late effort (which hit the post) gone in we'd all have been happy and it probably would not have been any more than we deserved.
Crowd was 1,774 with 274 away fans

Certainly seemed a lot more than 1784 there from where I was sat. Bearing in mind our form and the opposition, I'd say this was a disappointing figure.

I thought we'd get over 2000 today. Still the 3rd highest gate of the day mind

"I thought we'd get over 2000 today. Still the 3rd highest gate of the day mind" - Every season the impact of the extended Christmas gets worse. Roads into Southampton were almost grid-locked on Friday mid-morning with the dreaded Black Friday nonsense and it clearly affected gates all round yesterday.
Biggest shock was Barnet's "crowd" with just over 900 there for the visit of Gateshead. At the other extreme I raise my hat to the good folk of Wrexham who saw nearly 6,500 for the top of the table clash with Orient.

Yes I think you are right. Saw the Barnet gate, very poor considering they are having a reasonable season. I see we have Harrogate at home on the 22nd Dec, could well be our lowest crowd of the season I would think.
IIRC we have not had a crowd in 3 figures since August 2014, one of our first home game in the conference national, when we beat Welling 3-1.

So what happens if progress is made, and we're stuck with one car park at the ground & nowhere else that doesn't need a residents permit until you get to Asda?
