Essential a manager is in place before our next game; and he will be.

I was totally prepared to give strevs the utmost and best chance to put his mark on this team and the club, but last saturday and today the body language was all wrong, including during the week when i came down to get tickets. We need a new management team now to push on from here, not remnants of the Hill era, just a new outlook and personnel .

Just as worrying as the loss yesterday was the dreadfully low attendance. Of the National league sides playing at home, only Borhamwood got less. We were down with the likes of Alfreton, Chippenham, Hemel Hempstead, Witton Albion and Southport.
This really was the equivalent of a vote of no confidence in the club.

To get things a bit in perspective it could perhaps be mentioned that until 2014 the club had only reached the 1st round proper once ever, but now the expectation is that we should reach it nearly every season. Nevertheless in the majority of cases you would expect a mid-table National League team to win at home to a team currently in the playoff positions from the division below, and there is good prize money available in this competition.
Ben Strevens appears to have a great affection for the club which for me is a very admirable quality, but I think the club most look very carefully at the calibre of the other applicants.
However this is the fourth successive season that we have changed our manager during the season and in one of those seasons we did so twice. with probably an even higher turnover of players in this process. I think if the new manager is someone who is able to achieve good results and resist approaches from elsewhere if he does, then it would be a step forward.

Acknowledge our FA Cup history, & we have no divine right to be in Rd1, but having been beaten by a team 2 levels below us last season, and now Hampton, it's rather hard for many of us to take, so soon after a run, under Hess, of 6 games without defeat. I think if we'd had a fully fit/available squad, we'd probably have won yesterday, but sometimes things happen way outside the Manager's control
I do wonder (& some may accuse me of being a conspiracy theorist) if Hess engineered his own move to Dover, aware that new Board blood was coming and knowing that he wouldn't be in their plans. Can't blame him, really.
Just picking you up on Managerial changes, Malcy, 16/17, we changed the Manager THREE times. Todd, Moore, Allen, and Hill. Yes, Ben Strevens is held in high regard/with affection by most fans, but he cut a forlorn figure outside the dugout yesterday with no support and showing little by way of motivation towards the players. H&R seemed to have 4 or 5 other people in that area. We had just Ben, the rest sitting on the bench. As he said, he has no chance of getting the job now, but I think most would want him still to be involved on the coaching side, if he and the new Manager wishes.

Maybe I'm in a minority, but I don't think the crowd figure was that low yesterday. We got under 900 the last time we were at home at this stage 2 years ago & that was probably when our fanbase was at its peak level. Its impossible to compare crowd with other clubs from lower levels, am sure Totton/Stoneham/Sholing/Winchester etc would have had similar or even better crowds than us yesterday had they been at home in the 4th Q round yesterday.
I don't think there is anything imminent with regards new ownership/board members at Eastleigh FC, but of course there will always be rumours & speculation.
Am quite positive re new manager, not surprised we got a decent field of applicants. Us fans might be a bit down in the dumps about EFC at the moment, but the manager will see us as great opportunity. I guess it will just be nice for us to have a name and someone we can all get behind. Our next home game in Leyton Orient on Tuesday 30th, I reckon even money the new man will be in by then.
