as well as Alan Harding & Joanne Sprigg www.eastleighfc.com/statement-boardroom-update/Eastleigh Football club can confirm that board members Mark Jewell, Alan Harding and Joanne Sprigg have left the club. Mark Jewell was a very popular figure around the club and was instrumental in bringing in new sponsorship and playing an important role in the the transition to the new ownership. Unfortunately, ill health has hampered Mark’s ability to be effective in the daily demands of the Chief Executive role and has stepped down by mutual consent. Alan Harding has been a highly respected member of the board and passionate supporter of the club for 14 years. Alan, a very successful local business entrepreneur decided to step down from the board due to his on going personal interests. Alan was at pains to stress that he made this decision with a heavy heart and pledged he would continue to support and promote the club in the future at every opportunity. Joanne Sprig prior to joining the board was responsible for overseeing the HR and financial aspects of the club and was deservedly appointed a board member earlier this year to assist with the new ownership transition. Joanne will continue to provide support to the club in a non-executive capacity. A spokesperson for the board added “Alan, Mark and Jo all offered different skill sets and will all be missed. Going forward our goals and ambitions are unchanged as we continue the positive progress at the club” The board of Eastleigh Football Club would like to thank Alan, Mark and Joanne for their exceptional contribution and wish them all every success in the future.

Without stating the obvious, this doesn’t sound good! With Hess going under the ‘closer to home’ cover and the board splitting, something is going on. Are the numbers not as SD proclaimed?? Is a new owner in the offering??
Need some clarity from Kenny/Tom to keep the fans onside!

I think the news came out about Joanne Sprigg a few weeks ago. Good that her and Alan Harding are staying involved.
Its a real shame about Mark Jewell, no great suprise as he had some health concerns at the back end of last season which I think are worse than first thought. Always liked Mark and thought he was a positive personable guy and did a decent job at EFC for a number of years.

First of all I hope Jewlers health improves and a thanks to them all for the service to the club. To me it seems obvious that if changes at board level were going to happen and with manager situation, this is an ideal time to make these changes in one go, rather than in dribs and drabs down the line.

All a bit of a shock, except JS. Best wishes to MJ who will be missed as a figurehead for the Club and I'm sure we all wish him well for a full recovery. Without doubt, he did a great job at bringing much needed finance to the Club.
We appear to have just Kenny & Tom as the front men for EFC now and it seems to me we need more. Are new owners in the offing? Somehow I still think SD will be pulling some strings here and there, but on the face of it the Board needs new blood.

Don't think Kenny is usually one for posts on social media but he has just posted the following so thought it was worth a mention:
"Eastleigh fans I know what tonight's news regarding the board must look like and it is information that we have known about for a little while. The truth is the Hessy departure meant we didn't release it this week. we were going to release next week with a more comprehensive update but we were aware Mark was coming off on companies house and someone very eagle eyed had spotted Joanne coming off a number of weeks back so thought we better put it out before there was a panic.
Take a look below things are going very well on the pitch. We have two great guys in place to carry that good work on and a huge number of potential managers interested.
This season was always going to be about running at a more sustainable level and the playing departures we have had, have been in our best interests and not exactly derailed our progress. Having won 4 on the bounce for the first time in this league.
Off the field we continue to grow our business, we have more permanent staff joining our ranks this month, these people who understand our club and have it at their hearts they will aid us in continuing Stewart's fine work. He has left us financially secure with great facilities and we are doing our up most to maximise them.
I'm seeing alot of negativity and concern there really is no need I will be at the club tomorrow and am happy to discuss. Let's use some of this typing energy texting your friends to get them down the Silverlake tomorrow to get behind the lads."

Players come and go Managers come and go Directors come and go Even fans come and go The football club lives on Sadly the last line isn't true. Hundred's of clubs have disappeared completely, some even from the top divisions of the Football and Scottish Leagues and many from top flight non-league. Some were reformed later and "survive" in a new form, e.g. - Accrington Stanley, Aldershot, Gateshead, Bradford. Others have disappeared completely - Third Lanark, Edinburgh City, Thames, Kings Park, Leith Athletic, Leeds City, Rushden & Diamonds etc.
No club has an absolute right to survive. Financial problems have caused the collapse of many.

You are right taylov, though 72 years of history (and counting) is not to be sniffed at.nIts interesting to look into football history and its complexities, not quite sure I agree with your "disappeared completely" list. A quick look comes up with the following:
Edinburgh City, now in the SFL Kings Park, superseded by Stirling Albion in 1945 Leeds City, superseded by Leeds United 1919 Rushden & Diamonds, superseded by AFC Rushen & Diamonds in 2011

One can argue the relationships about some of these clubs but there is no connection at all (except a name) in the case of Edinburgh City. The new club in Scottish League 2 was formed in 1966 as Postal United over 11 seasons after the original EC club folded.

To return to matters affecting EFC, do we think there will be any additions to the Board coming up? The make up of the board now appears to be Kenny Amor, Tom Coffey, Mick Budny, Mick Geddes, Alan Prebble & Pete Vickery. Presumably, Joanne Sprigg & Mark Jewell retain part ownership along with KA & TC. Guess at the moment KA is Chief Exec and de facto Chairman.

When one person who has been in absolute autonomy at the top goes in any organisation usually the rest of the company, club, school business crumbles. That’s what’s happened here. No succession planning at all.
