I’m sure the score line delighted some posters on here who crave goalless dross but for me it was an utterly massive waste of time. I just can’t see how you can build a fan base fur l these amazing new facilities if you produce that for an hour and a half. Any potential new fan would have run a Mile after watching this garbage.

Thing is will, whether it's this season or next season or what, the ultimate goal is to get promoted. At some point therefore we need to start getting clean sheets on a more regular basis. If you get promoted with a defence that concedes 3 a game, yes a 4-3 win every game will be an entertaining way of getting promotion and gain fans, but we'd get utterly arse raped in league 2. We need a solid defence that keeps clean sheets rather than conceding goals just to keep it entertaining, so we can get promoted with a structured and organised defence rather than one that leaks goals to to tick willk's entertainment boxes.

Will you are a horse faced dick.
Go through all the teams in all the leagues and see how many have not had at least two goaless draws in a 23 game home season.
Its part of the game you profess to know so much about. Not knowing what is going to happen is part of the entertainment perhaps you should stick to WWE.

"Fur" these amazing new facilites?, are we looking to increase our fanbase to include cats and dogs? Very poor grammar, if our resident English teacher was here he'd be having kittens, furry ones at that ;-)

The game was absolute dross. A point isn't enough for us. AH shouldn't be happy with that performance, after what he said after Maidenhead.
Yes, it was a clean sheet, but Halifax are low on confidence, with a new manager, and were probably happy with the result. Reda looked comfortable against whatever they could throw at him but his passing was pretty awful, as befits someone who's been out for a long time.
Some new tactics - long throws didn't make Martin Allen any more popular. Playing three centre backs and pushing the full-backs up only works if the full-backs are any good. They've been a weak point of our team most of the season.
Halifax defended well, the centre backs were very physical and our forwards weren't. We looked bereft of ideas in the middle, a worrying sign, and had only the odd flash on the flanks, mainly from Sam Matthews, who with Miley did his best. Stack played well in goal when he needed to.
Sorry to be so negative, but I wasn't entertained either. The flare-up at the end of the first half was quite amusing though.

It wasn't much of a game, I'll give you that; but two teams on a bad run, lacking confidence, it was never really going to be a classic. I think the aim of both teams is to ensure they are in this league next season, and I'm sure both will be. But if you look at our run of fixtures, its a very tough one, and we had to stop this defensive nonsense and quick. So for me, all be it in a poor game, this was a first step on the road to recovery. I also think Halifax were half decent, by no means the worst team in this division, and when you look at the goals we have conceded against some really poor teams, stopping them scoring was not nothing.
So I am not exactly celebrating, but I do think this was better, if not much.

All true. At the end of the day this is non league football and our main aim is to be promoted to the football league. It's not all going to be glamorous football so if that's what you want become a Barcelona fan. I was also slightly happier with the defensive performance today. Can't work out whether it was the addition of reda or the absence of cresswell. We did limit them to only a few chances. We had a couple but never really looked like scoring today so probably a fair result. I think we'll be safe this season so probably best we can hope for us midtable consolidation.

I think Sam Matthews was terrific, his industry and running on and off the ball was great to see. Expected more of Halifax really. A grim game though for any new fan or neutral. Think we’ll be stuck on 1800 attendances for a long time to come.

Think we’ll be stuck on 1800 attendances for a long time to come. Had a new fan with me today and he enjoyed the experience and is coming back in April when he is next free to come. Yes not the greatest game and we should have won, but not a grim game for anyone who knows football is not always whizz bang high scoring edge of the seat stuff. Was quite perceptive about our shortcomings including McCallum's lack of bravery and effort - possibly still not match sharp.

Was dreadful wasn’t it. No blame on the conditions today. Playing 5 at the back just in the hope of finally getting a clean sheet obviously worked. But it did nothing for entertaining. We had a good run against a load of struggling teams, including a bit of luck that resulted in a few wins. That luck has run out and now we are serving up the same dross we had under Hill before he finally ( not before to long) buggered off. The trouble with 5 at the back and Togwell and Miley in the middle leaves no creativity, apart from Matthews, but he can’t do it all on his own. Leaves only him and the strikers with any really chance of scoring. Luckily they keep the bar open at half time and only have to put up with 20 mins max of the second half.

Spitfiresteve ‘had a new fan with me and he really enjoyed the experience’ Each to their own, but as stated by everyone the game was utter long ball, tedious rubbish so not quite sure which bit he enjoyed. Unless he’s a Winchester city attendee and then the football must have mirrored the 1970 Brazil World Cup team.
