Threw about a 2 goal lead and then get a 95th minute winner.
Never in doubt :-)

The first 20 minutes was very entertaining with some decent football played by both teams. Thought Eastleigh deserved to be at least one up at half time. Gateshead never looked out of it though even at 2 v 0. The game management was terrible at this point. Not sure what the substitutions brought and a comfortable two nil position was some how thrown away. Will take the late winner though. Onwards and upwards.

I had to leave just after the Gateshead equaliser to get to a gig, heard the cheer for the winner as I passed the lakeside cafe. Gutted to miss the goal but I’m happy to take one for the team and leave 5 minutes early every game if it means we win.

Winning goal was all about Yaetes, superb play from him, one of, if not then he is our best player so why didn't he start?

I think it was the right decision to relegate Yeates to the bench. He has been one of our more positive players this season but has too frequently failed with the final ball or attempt on goal. His goal today showed what he is capable of, just like his completely different goal at Hartlepool, so please let's see more of that sort of form, Mark. BTW, 3 excellent goals from the Spits today, first time we've scored more than 2 this season.

Poor Subs, trying to see the game out allowed them to come on to us, as you say, as usual!!

Right then a positive post. Went 2 up with two very well taken goals. Very entertaining game in poor conditions then Gateshead who had played well got back into game not due to poor subs but just poor defending. Then the winner which I missed Typical. I saw a team that fought to the end and fighting for their manager. So those who have got knives out for the team go home to mummy and your favourite white sock and I am sure when you have finished with the sock you will have thought of another negative post

I thought we played pretty well for about 70 minutes.
Should have scored more than 1 goal in the first half after missing some good chances - Mccallums header from inside the 6 yard box (needs more match sharpness?) Green hitting post and williamson bar within a few minutes
superb goal from contstable for our second and thought we looked for a fairly easy win by 3 or 4.
Obviously not to be, subs possibly a bit too attacking rather than doing the professional thing of "seeing out the game", although we didn't have a defender on the bench, again prob due to injuries.
Of course always nice to get an injury time winner, heard a couple of people mention there was hint of offside in it?
Anyway a very welcome 3 points - first home win for over 2 months - and good to see Cresswell get 90 minutes as well. A very goof afternoon all in all

other thing I noticed was time added on at the end of the game, ref gave 5 minutes, we scored in the 95th minute, there still seemed to be about 3 minutes played after that (gateshead had a good chance to make it 3-3). with 30-60 seconds for our goal, I don't see why 3 minutes was played?
OK, its a moot point as we did not conceed, and if we had doubtless had it been mentioned it would have been "excuses excuses".
just glad its not the latter!

Great to get a win. Shame we made it so nervy!! Interesting to hear the crowd announced as over 1500. Seemed to be much less than that.

As often I seemed to watching a different match to others on here; still no bad thing, variety is the spice of life and all that. I thought for 65 minutes Gateshead were pretty awful, they had even less pace than us - which I thought impossible. When we scored our second we could easily have been 4 or 5 up. At that point me being the cautious bloke I am, I'd have left one up top, and made us very compact, played on the break and kept possession, basically tried to kill the game. Now I know many of you want exciting attacking football, so I can hear the howls of protest. Hill didn't do this. He left two up front and actually chased the game, Beano should have made it 3, and at this point I turned to Rendel and said we need to be more compact and more defensive or we'll be caught, which is exactly what happened.
Once Gateshead had scored, we got all nervy and retreated into kicking the ball anywhere just to get rid of it. Finally Gateshead started to look a half decent team and it was obvious they were going to score again, which of course they did. By now they looked as if they were going to go on and win the game, but we had a strong last few minutes and nicked it in the end. Over 98 minutes a fair result, a decent game, an okay performance from an average side, against a below average side. But no way did RH shut up shop to keep the lead; the substitutions were all about fresh legs replacing tired legs. If we beat Solihull on Tuesday, we'll all start to believe. You can believe what you like though for this team is a mid table team and that's where we will finish until we get some younger, pacier players playing for us.

My thought is that we got a "get out of jail" card today, for 70 mins we were cruising then RH lost the plot with his substitutions, again take off the youth and replace with the old, why was Beano kept on (apart from great finish what did he do today), we had all the elements with us and could not go on and win comfortably against a pretty limited team. This win and Man Utd losing has made a good evening, and I'll be back again Tuesday, slightly concerned that the attendance was down again, but wins normally bring back fans.

Think the subs were fair as the 3 who went off need to be fresh for Tuesday. I admit that i was thinking that Beano should be taken off before his well taken goal but glad he wasn't. The one he missed was easier than the one he scored. Yeates maybe should have come on earlier as IMO he can and did make things happen with his skill and pace. Still cannot understand why people leave before the end(although accept this may be due to travel issues) but this game showed the folly in doing so as the excitement and atmosphere when the 3rd goal went in was amazing and what we have missed.
