0-0, not the most enthralling 1st half

That'll do. Strong defence against a very good looking SU who couldn't quite break us down. Could be the template for the season, conceding few goals but not scoring a hat full either.

That'll do. I agree but they'll have to be a big improvement on this kind of performance to challenge for promotion. It's very early days though and the team needs time to gell. Hoyte was man of the match for me.

Thought Sutton came with a plan to slow things down from the start and disrupt us that way, but came up against a team that was well prepared for just that. Wonder if the half time conversation was that we haven't had a shot on target all season so lets just shoot from kick off 😀😀 nearly worked...

That was a really hard earned win, well deserved - back 4 looked good to me, worked well as a unit

I'd have settled for that last Friday, 4 points from 2 games, Bromley (a) and Sutton (h). A performance worthy of a heavyweight boxer absorbing pressure for 70% of the fight and then striking the knockout punch. Not pretty to watch at times but a great start to the season.

For me Andrew Boyce was my MOM. Won pretty well every header he went for & showed great determination and self control. It was Boyce who actually kept us in the match in the first half with an absolutely brilliant goal line clearance with Stack beaten!! Reda might be great in defense but his knack of getting booked is a sad negative which now means that after only 2 matches he is out suspended for the D&R match! Our defense overall was very solid under considerable pressure; remember that Sutton were fresh from beating Leyton Orient and were bound to be on a particular high. Still, it was interesting to see 5 of our former players turn out for Sutton's first team! As Hilly will always truthfully say, no match will be "easy" so it's great to get a win in our first home match; hopefully we can rebuild Fortress Silverlake once more

Why is someone out suspended for next game because they were booked in the first two games of the season. Surely they have another three "up their sleeve" before any ban or did I miss a second yellow or something right on the final whistle?

Awful first half, exciting second half. J.C was so close to putting Sutton to the sword when he hit the bar.

It was 5 yellow cards before a ban, I've not heard that that rule has changed at all

First half not very exciting, Sutton were the better team, we hardly made a chance but were (mostly) solid enough.
Second half we livened up, the shot from the kick-off was a symbol for a more attacking 45 mins. Just about deserved the win.
Good result, Sutton are a decent side and will cause a few teams some problems. It had a bit of a feeling of a local derby, despite the teams being geographically apart, I suppose the clubs do have a few players/management team in common. I have a feeling we will get better as the team plays together more. Solid enough at the back, hard-working midfield, and two strikers who ran a lot despite not getting many opportunities - a pretty good start, although hopefully there will be more creativity going forward in future games.

An ugly 1-0. We are the only team in the league who haven't conceded a goal. We look strong and fit, though the football at times was ugly. Sutton failed to score because they wasted countless set pieces. As the game became stretched we became stronger. A typical Conference performance. Same again Saturday please. It may not look good, but if we come away with the same result, you'll get no complaints from me. As for MOM I thought Stack was good, in slippery conditions, he had a very solid game.
