Evening Spitfires. Attended the game tonight - I am a naturalised Gosport native, Blades fan.
Thoroughly enjoyed the game and thanks on behalf of us Unitedites for your hospitality. Nice ground, good pitch, good fans.
For what it is worth, I thought your team showed ability way above where you are in the league structure and believe you'd hold your own even in Div One with some additions. Good luck with next season and your ambitions to get up.
Only downside is your rather dickheaded car park stewards, blocking cars exiting 'until the pedestrians have gone'. Nice way of ensuring the surrounding roads suddenly get jammed up.
All the best

You'd still be in the car park now if the stewards didn't manage the exit 😀

I heard a lot of Blades fans in the Shed End (the standing end) complimenting how we have it a damn good shot and caused a few problems. A lot of fans from clubs in our own league have slated our facilities in the past, so good on you lot for being respectful.
All of our games so far have been against aides at least two divisions below, so it was a great opportunity to see us play against a well organised and quality opponent. Was a good rest for both sides.
I also wish you all the best in your campaign; you're a club who should never have really been as low as league 1 with the history and support you have.
Oh, and about the stewards... We are trying to improve our stadiums accessibility in the next few years, but at the moment 80% of the fans leave the stadium and walk down that main road, so only for safety reasons really that they stop cars.

Thanks Pommpey. We're exiled Blades but also Eastleigh season ticket holders. Blades looked superb so fingers crossed for a great season in the Championship. Was very proud of the Eastleigh lads too - we've been playing well pre season (admittedly not all to particularly tough opposition) and really hope it continues into the coming season.
Worth noting that the last time we played a Championship side (3rd round FA cup last season at Brentford) we were hammered 5-1 (correct me if I'm wrong). Feel we played much better last night against a strong Blades side!! Thanks for coming and thanks to all the fans who took the long trip down south 👍
Unfortunately the car parking situation is very difficult situation. At present, fans are walking back to the main road on a dark, unlit road with no pavement so is a safety measure. We're hoping to sort out access from the motorway direction and this will become a necessity if our ground capacity goes up to the 6000 mark (about 5250 at the moment depending on segregation amount)

Nothing new about this, I have been coming since 1992 and it has always been dangerous. It used to be even more dangerous because cars didn't expect to see pedestrians, and me and my children have had many close shaves, and indeed Rendel was hit once, all be it nothing serious. The real danger (and I make no apologies for repeating this), is those people who insist on walking on the right side of the road. Yet again WALK FACING THE TRAFFIC. It is just a little obvious. Now if you want to put yourself in danger I recognise that is your choice, you are however putting me at risk, as the cars have less room to manoeuvre.
Nothing spoils my enjoyment of a game more than seeing dozens of people walking on the wrong side of the road afterwards. It is stupid, dangerous and just one day we could have a fatality as the result of it. I don't want to tell you that I told you so...BUT I DID!

What is the new capacity once the stand extension is complete?

The other issue is the way people dress - a game finishing in the dark and wearing all black !!! Kids dressed the same. In a road with no lighting. Please wear a light coloured jacket, or. better still a reflective band. Many of you really couldn't be seen on Friday night.

Totally agree with that, even more so in the rain with poor visibility

Totally agree the cost of a high viz vest is only just a couple of pounds. We get really good value from the club in the price of tickets. Spend 2 pounds and be safe which is nothing compared with a life especially if it is your child!

Last night was like a slalom course with people walking on both sides of the road making it really difficult for the car drivers even at slow speeds. The Blades fan who looked lost virtually standing in the middle on his phone didn't help either!!

Would help too if stewards kept cars back for the full 10 minutes they say. Timed it at only 5 last night and in awful conditions made it a nervy walk along the lane

I was replying to the other poster with the reason for the road closure. To quote my post and rant about it is not going to help. I agree that high visibility vests and walking on the correct side of the road would be a step in the right direction for pedestrians though. Just common sense surely?

Cheers for all your sentiments pommpey, that is bar the last one. Not quite sure how our stewards get abuse for what is a fairly obvious and sensible safety measure which I believe is a directive from the council/safety group/highways agency etc. To state the bleeding obvious large groups of people walking along the lane alongside cars on a regular basis is not the best idea. Odd to think it happened every home game until about 2 years ago.
Of course the longer term solution is to open up access on the motorway side. Something the club has been keen to do for about a decade I think, certainly long before bridle came in. Course the issues surrounding that and permissions needed to make it happen are all quite complex.
