Anyone got any idea when the extension of the blue stand is going to start being built? Obviously there has been masses going on re the pitch to try and get right, now it's looking really good and the roof at the shed end which again is looking good. Planning regs I assume are still not passed so only thing I can think of is it's that that is causing the delay, it's gonna have to be put up quickly if the aim is the start of the season but I guess more realistically it will be done when it's done. There was the whole debate at the end of the season where to put away fans because of the noise in the mackoy, keep that for home fans etc personally I think just keep as it is but with two options, a small bit of terrace and first section of seats nearest that terrace or just give them the first section of seats and no terrace , aslong as the rest of the mackoy get behind EFC then it will be a good atmosphere, I know everyone has their own opinion on this and that led to the debates on the younger fans being turfed out but a new slate wiped a fresh start so make that end and the new extension when it's done the main noisy areas. Can't wait.

Certainly don't want to sit in the Mackoy stand unless its raining. Hopefully the new stand will retain some standing at the front so we don't have to move too far from where we've stood for the last 7 years.

Think the away fans area will be similar to last season.
The new stand (when built) will be home fans only. I think the new seated stand will be set back a little so there will be room for standing in front, whether that will be terraced or not I am not sure.

Went through the plans as well as those "photos" and it seems there won't be much space if any for standing in front of the new stand, certainly the mix of terracing and seats that were discussed previously has been dropped.

Probably because extra terracing may/will increase the stadium's capacity. Plus access to the seating is from the pitch side,as with the existing stand, so logically no room for standing in front of the stand. However, let's say capacity is 5000 @ the moment, is there anything to stop the club putting in extra room for the future, but not allowing more than 5000 souls into a game until all the applications etc have been done & approved.

I think with this new stand we will be doing just that nobad. I believe our capacity at the moment is 5,200 (we had 5,025 for Bolton with some empty seats in the mackoy due to segregation).
So with 800(?) new seats replacing a flat terrace area then we must be pushing up to 6,000. Of course whether we'd be allowed that sort of number in the ground depends on lots of whys and wherefores, not least selling that many tickets, hopefully something to be tested in the coming season!
Could we add a few large concrete steps in below the seated areas to act as terracing?

Silverlakstadium said : "Put capacity to a level where the club would need to improve the access to the stadium"
As the stadium is basically on an 'island' the only access improvement I can think of is for a slip road off the motorway roundabout into a car park behind The Mackoy Stand, but exit would be out onto the old Stoneham Lane road, a one way car park!!!!!!
The new stand looks impressive too by the way.

By the look of the stand and the way the stairs are positioned I imagine it's going to be possible to extend the row down to the pitch in the future if needed too? If not all the way down to the pitch then very close. Would make sense to do this in the future when the club is pushing on in the football league.

I believe SD said at the fans forum that if the seats went down the bottom it wouldnt leave enough room for a path way. So only option would be for the stand to be moved back and the seats not in line with the original stand. He joked and said something like "I should have looked into this before buying the club" hinting that this issue had been driving them up the wall before these plans were confirmed.

Yeah I did hear that he said that, hence why I said "if not all the way down to the pitch then very close". im sure it would only be a matter of 2 rows missing at the bottom. Would be a shame if not as it'll just leave large gaps at the bottom and makes no sense to have the steps that way.
