Taking the roof off the shed didn't help either. Even stood in the shed the noise without the roof was rather muted so don't expect it could be heard anywhere else in the ground.
As for the management of the Mackoy by the stewards, very disappointing. I've been to a number of away games with them and they've never caused any bother.

This is clearly something you care about (not saying I don't, but probably less than you) so why not raise the matter with Stewart on Thursday evening, Bomber? Yeah, I'd have a right result wouldn't I. Like stewards EVER admit they're wrong!! 😂

Been like a morgue without them.
They probably had enough of getting slated for everything they done by the 'offended by everything brigade'

Yeah, I'd have a right result wouldn't I. Like stewards EVER admit they're wrong!! 😂 You're missing the point, a bit, I think. There won't be any stewards at the forum, in an official capacity anyway, so there won't be anyone to admit any wrong doing. Stewards are only doing what they've been instructed to do anyway. Stewart is anxious to grow the fan base & encouraging the youngsters is a vital part of that strategy. Stewart will know the reasons why the stewards made certain decisions, and he was probably powerless to affect them, but I bet he has plans where to house them (the young fans, not the stewards) next season. One of the many reasons for the forum is that fans can try to get things put right with which they disagree. If you don't raise the matter, for sure someone else will, but at least you'll be able to contribute your point of view, if you wish.

I personally do not like it when people have a one-sided view on this issue. There are a lot of aspects to consider with this issue and that is why we had a lengthy discussion on it at a recent fans forum.

I think the "young uns" have been located in the corner of the Mackoy stand for some of our recent games.
I am certain that the club are aware of this issue will be looking at it for next season.
Stating the obvious here - our poor season has not helped the atmosphere.

At the start of the season the atmosphere was great and tbh was the reason why I started coming. It adds so much to the match day experience. If things stay as they were in the second half of the season, I can't see us attracting many more fans.

I have no inclination whatsoever to go to a fans forum if I'm totally honest...im not THAT bothered about it. My instinct tells me that the youngsters we've lost won't come back even if the club let them in for free...and if I got grief off a steward for their perspective of aggressive behaviour, I wouldn't either. Still, the stewards can enjoy the game in peace now, rather than flapping every time a group of lads swear at the football.

As many on here have said, the Martin Allen effect has caused so much demoralisation so I'm sure this has had some effect on the atmosphere. Let's hope it improves for next season with a management team and players who want to be there and are hungry for success. Please do keep coming northamspitfire - it's not been the most conventional of seasons!

We need some clarification on what the plan is with the shed end of the ground. Even through tough times or boring games it still had a class atmosphere. But I guess others are right to an extent, the poor run of results had a negative impact on atmosphere.

These kids are the future as we old sods kick the bucket...that is life whether we like it or not. Sort it out EFC and I know SD will be at the forefront of sorting it....he is powerless on the stewards side due to the law, so in reality the stewards do things right as the law stands so....whatever the stewards view is...we have to educate the kids....all about community in our town and come support the greatest team in HAMPSHIRE

Might be powerless on the law but surely not powerless as to how it is interpreted and enforced. Surely the stewards are employed by the football club so although they have to follow the rules there will always be a range in which the rules can be enforced. In the same way that if the police stop you for a faulty brake light, they are within the law to give you a ticket but most will interpret it and send you on your way to get it fixed.
There is no way the rules/law say that the fans who sing cannot be within 50 yards of the opposition supporters and therefore have to stand in the other corner of the Mackoy? It's how it is managed by the stewards and communicated to the fans that either makes it a stressful situation that leads to problems or an obvious resolution for all. Stopping them standing in a legitimate area of the ground is wrong, unless the reasons are communicated which I think is the issue in this instance.

There has been a lot of comments about the stewards this season, some are fine and use common sense, whilst others seem to be on a power trip, and it's these stewards that seem to have taken it upon themselves to dictate where our young fans can sit, even moving the proverbial goalposts when the kids have actually been seated. So in my view, what's needed are some stewards that actually understand these kids to manage that particular section, that way all parties will get to know each other and hopefully will mutually respect each other, it's not rocket science, just common sense. Also, do you think that a certain faction of the stewards have their own bar? ;-)

In a lifetime of running nightclubs, I have never let doormen dictate to me. They were working for me, not the other way around. I would always be the one who made the final decision about who come in and who stayed out. There are some doormen (stewards) who would be happier with no customers, to give them a quiet life, but that's not how you run a business. I have seen stewards at the Silverlake who need intensive training (or sacking.) If Stewart doesn't sort out this side of his operation, even with all his valiant efforts in other areas, he could find the football business going down the tubes.
