On the contrary, having a PM unfettered by cronyism will give us the best chance of getting the NHS fixed. Theresa May owes no allegiance to any of the cliques, clubs or societies, unions or other self interest groups which have infested previous administrations of either colour.
The main problems the NHS has, come from disastrous mismanagement during Labour years. Gordon Brown's 'private finance initiatives' have left the NHS with long term crippling debts. The people they appointed to senior positions with obscene salaries have failed to plan and manage with the result that many millions were wasted on useless IT systems that had to be thrown out because they didn't work and many more millions are now being wasted on agency staff required because those overpaid incompetent cronies completely failed to produce a proper recruitment and training strategy to ensure that the health service was fully staffed with trained and qualified medical professionals. There are hundreds of talented kids in this country with multiple A star A levels who want a career in medicine but are not able to get into medical school because there still aren't enough places. Instead we have to recruit from abroad. We hear regularly from people who take the high moral ground in telling us how wonderful it is that we have immigrants who help to keep our health service going - but what morals are there in plundering the human resources of hospitals in poorer countries whose own sick and infirm are left without the doctors and nurses they need? And by the way there have been no cuts in government funding of the NHS and the spend on the NHS as a percentage of GDP is higher in this country than it has ever been under any previous government.
I would totally accept that the Cameron government did little to make things any better and has therefore just added to the problem. I do believe though that Theresa May is in the unusual position of owing nothing to anybody. If Jeremy Corbyn, Diane Abbott and co were elected the NHS would be run by the unions and the the country would quickly become bankrupt anyway.
I started my voting life as an idealist Labour supporter. In the 50 years since then I have seen successive Labour governments trash the economy and have witnessed first hand the destruction by unions of an entire industry in this country. The international markets know exactly what is good and bad for this country's prosperity and you can see very clearly how the pound's value has been cut each time opinion poll figures have indicated any increase in Labour voting intentions. If Mr Corbyn were elected or we were faced with a Lib Lab coalition, the markets would anticipate this country's economic decline, our international credit rating would be slashed and the interest rates on our borrowing would be multiplied. The new old-left government would not be able to get the additional debt it would need to finance all the boondoggle la la land promises being made by Labour and any hope of recovery for the NHS would be dashed. The UK would be on the verge of bankruptcy anyway, very quickly.
Mrs May has already faced down intitial bullying tactics regarding Brexit from Mrs Merkel's and Mr Macron's EU and is now committing to eliminating extreme terrorism. We are used to hearing a lot of fluff from politicians but the evidence on her tenure so far is that she does what she says.
