I thought Clarke was the best of the 100 keepers who have played this season. Let's get behind Stack unlike a number of fans on Saturday, even after making a number of saves gave unnecessary abuse.

I agree - lets get behind the starting 11, regardless to personal opinions on individual players

I thought after looking at Ryan Clarke's twitter account yesterday there was no recent mention of Eastleigh (In fact I saw a couple of his former clubs mentioned more recently) so I thought it was likely that he would be moving on.
Many people will have been impressed by the fact that he came back to play so soon after the death of his father.
I think though that most experienced goalkeepers really want to be playing first team football on a regular basis.

Imho there was no need to bring Clarke in for Flitney. Flitney'd kept something like eleven clean sheets in his last sixteen.

To my mind this decision confirms RH is to become manager with Stack his number one next season, otherwise Clarke would still be here until the new manager has seen the goalkeepers himself, so the madness has already started. A small squad of about 18 players because the manager will play his favourites every week unless they are injured/suspended. I very much doubt we will now see a DoF....RH does not like them, but was prepared to be one himself, funny that!!!

I can certainly see the point about Ross Flitney. I get the impression that as soon maybe wrongly that as soon as Clarke was signed he would be selected for the first game he was available for irrespective of how Flitney had been playing.

I really do not know what people saw in Flitney, you could guarantee he made at least one massive mistake every game. He was a good shot stopper but coming for crosses he was poor and his ability to punch a ball non-existent. Not saying he is a bad keeper but Clarke was far better, bringing Ross back would be a backward step. He also had the benefit of a good team in front of him.

It is true Ross dropped a clanger now and then but so do all keepers. Clarkey was at fault with a couple of rash charges from his line giving away two penalties at home, also the calamitous goal he gifted Swindon away. And Stack has certainly been culpable of late. All three are good keepers but the decision to drop Flitney after he'd immaculately kept a clean sheet at Macclesfield is, in my opinion, symptomatic of where we are after the season we've had - too many needless changes of managers and consequently players as a result of chasing success too quickly. On a separate note, I think it was a bad move to offer Reda a three year contract.

Like unknownquantity, I do feel that the signing of Clarke with the understanding he would go straight into the line up, was extremely unfair on the in form Flitney. However, I did grow to like Clarke (it wasn't his fault that Ross was snubbed) and am disappointed he has gone.
Agree, they've all had their howlers - I'm not particularly worried about that awful Swindon goal because the lads all played brilliantly and with so much passion. Stack, conceding 3 goals in 6 minutes at D&R was awful; and the 'Flitney magnet', I've seen from many visiting keepers but his goal kicks improved greatly prior to his departure. He didn't appear to keep many clean sheets at Whitehawk though.
Can't wait until Mark Childs is back and fit. I always wonder what the Brentford score line would have been if we'd continued to keep the in form Childs in goal....
Of course - we never will know.

Quite a strong opinion coming across in that article from Hilly but, if Clarkey was told he wouldn't play under RH, he wasn't really in a position to enable him to fight for his place. Another sign of there being more going on than meets the eye.
On another note, "general wear and tear" for Reid?! The joys of coming out of retirement! He'll be missed today but hope to see him back in the team Monday. Bringing him and Macca back was an inspired decision and has certainly contributed to the turn around after MA's departure.
As an aside, I though North Ferriby had already been relegated due to their ground not meeting the requirements?
Look forward to seeing the rest of the travelling Spitfires in a few hours. Let's hope we can play like we did against Lincoln - can't afford to sit back in the knowledge we're playing a relegation area team. COYS 🔵⚪️⚽️
