I suppose that it's just a feature of modern football - I started watching in 1957/58 - but I can't quite understand replacing someone who had managed seven clubs since 2003 with one who has had eleven jobs over the same period (including 4 stints at one club).
Nevertheless I hope that MA will be a huge success at EFC and will take us forward to the Football League.

A lot of managers take players from their old club to their new club after they have moved.
It's just been pointed out to me that MA is so clever he managed to take one of his best centre backs to his new club before he got here himself.
How about that then?

"Oh when the Spitfires, Go marching........" :-) I just don't like Pompey so am forgiving him the fact that he once played for them as he has now crossed over from the dark side! :-) You forgiven Ngala too? He's exempt as he made less than 30 appearances for them! :-)

Still highly rated there I believe.

getting off topic here but he played 14 games this season for Barnet before moving to us (and 46 last season). I think Barnet fans may have been putting a "good spin" on the sale by calling him 3rd choice.

Don't believe Martin Allen is on twitter but for those with a certain sense of humour he has a parody account: twitter.com/maddogmartinbfc

If you really feel he's been clever with the N'Gala transfer, one might suggest that to make that a clever transfer, he should have got him to sign for us for free/cheap, not for the reported £65k...Great defender, not bemoaning the transfer at all, i'm glad we got him, but to suggest MA has been clever when costing us that amount of money, is pretty stupid.

Hi there, sorry to gatecrash your board but I just wanted to say a quick word about Martin Allen. As you would have worked out from my username I am a Gillingham fan. Martin managed us for a couple of years and I can honestly say that they were two of the most enjoyable seasons I have had in over 40 years of following the Gills. He won the League 2 title which was our first championship since 1964. It was more than that though. He was a genuinely nice, decent guy who really did appreciate the supporters. After a few years of the fans feeling somewhat disenfranchised with the club he really brought the fans and the players together in a way I have rarely seen. Just a brief example; My daughter and I were walking along the road going to watch us away at Barnet (ironically) when the team coach just stopped in the middle of the road and Martin stuck his head out of the door and invited us on. We had a chat with the coaching staff and players on the way to the ground. It was marvelous. He opened up training and encouraged the players to talk to fans. Just be prepared for his dog Monty to chew up a few balls! In short, be prepared for a fun, sometimes strange ride, but be assured of one thing...it won't be dull.
All the best for the rest of the season and I for one will be watching out for your results.

Just joking Paul. No need to take it seriously. I'll put a little emoticon in future.
