Suits me, means I get to spend more time with the family. I know the traditions being sacrificed at the altar of TV, upsets a lot of people, but traditions change. The game is nothing like the one I started watching in 1965, and in 20 years time it'll be nothing like the one we are watching today. As always, those with the money will decide the direction it goes. It's not just football, it's everything under the sun. Welcome to the wonders/joys/horrors of capitalism everybody!

The TV companies won't be satisfied until every tradition in Football has been sacrificed on the altar of profit. How I miss those wonderful Boxing Day fights matches between Luton Town and Watford in the 1970s "Altar of profit", Tony? Does anyone really think BT Spit makes a profit from showing National League football? I wonder how many subscribers they have signed up on the back of VNL football? How many people reading this forum have BT Spit & did you take it just because they show the VNL? Seeing the amount of equipment & staff they have for a match, it must cost a fortune (to us) to show a game. Maybe 2/3000 watching at the ground, how many at home/pub/club? Please put me right if you can see the economics of it all working out. The obvious thing anyone will say is that big companies won't do anything that doesn't make a profit, but I just fail to see how the current model works. Not that I care one iota.

They wouldn't show it, if overall, they didn't make money out of it. It really is that simple.

Well I switched to BT a while ago, but at the end of the honeymoon period will have to pay extra for the sports channels. However since they are showing live National Conference matches, thousands of people like myself will be reluctant to cancel their subscription. This is just one example of making money out of it, to say nothing of the advertising revenue.

I switched to Virgin and BT Sport a few months ago and while having VNL wasn't a main reason it is good to be able to see the highlights on Sunday's and record the Eastleigh live games(which i will do tomorrow and 27th Dec) although i will be at the Silverlake.

As moving games for TV goes I reckon this will definitely be as convenient for some as it is inconvenient for others.
Personally much as I enjoy going to the Silverlake on boxing day, the evening of the 27th is much easier. There is also 2 months notice which is pretty good for those who don't have Xmas plans set in stone.
If you are desperate to get away from the Mrs/family/inlaws etc etc on boxing day you can always say the game is on anyway and sneak off to the boozer for a few hours :0)

More than eight week's notice has been given and in the past the club has used TV money to subsidise away travel.
TV companies are not likely to show their games at times where a lot of other football is also being played.

Most VNL games are on BT Sport 1 which is free if you already have BT Broadband. Today's game at Barrow is on that.
Agree that switching it to Tue will inconvenience some and be helpful for others, and that two month's notice is the best we'll get. Aldershot v Woking, as a local derby, seems a more logical choice for Boxing Day coverage, especially with the early kick-off, which is possibly on police advice?
As for Boxing day 3 p.m., if you want to see a game - Bognor v Havant and Waterlooville looks good to me! :-) Take the relatives down for an afternoon by the sea.
