I want to see a midfielder that grabs the game by the balls,in my opinion that's where we struggled last season. Need someone to get stuck in and break up play. Someone like Craig Stanley....

'I want to see a midfielder that grabs the game by the balls' Woking's Daniel Carr is a striker, but he certainly did some of that on Paul Reid in the game here - Reid getting sent off for retaliation On a more serious note, not heard of many of the names that SS is suggesting - quite a few League 2 players, though, so not sure if they'd fancy coming down here. I I like the idea of looking at players in League 2 who were on loan from higher clubs, though. Connor Townsend played well for Grimsby here - he was on loan from Scunny, I gather even Grimsby couldn't attract him permanently. A few other players at the Silverlake who impressed me, off the top of my head: Cook (Barrow) Goddard (Woking) C.Walker, Gallagher (Aldershot) Norwood (Tranmere) Dennis (Macclesfield) Miller, Deverdics (Dover) Whittaker at Macclesfield has always impressed me, but he's 35. plus most Grimsby players! Most visiting keepers have seemed pretty good, too - best keeper performance I saw last season was from that Chester keeper Thomson. Agree we need a midfielder like Stanley, we still also need a forward like McAllister. From our squad, I'd be happy to see: Flitney (or Poke - whichever one the manager chooses - both fine for this level) Partington Coulson Turley Drury Strevens (if playing regularly) Yemi probably Beano probably Evans probably Reid possibly Greener (seems to be keeping his discipline better recently) possibly Reason (needs to get fitter/more confident) possibly Cook (his role in the later games as impact sub is quite effective) possibly Midson (if he's given more opportunities) Harding, Lafayette (under contract, but if they wanted to go.... ) I like Dan Harding, he's a pretty solid fullback, but for me he is not very good coming forward. Greener is better at that, although he's not as good a defender).

Think he's played 36 league games for Coventry's first team this season.... but it's definitely the right way to go.

At least 6 or 7 need to be moved on, there is no time for sentiment as even the players we have had for some time are also in the bracket of coming up short 2 years in a row and not achieving what is the clubs ultimate goal of League football. You only get out of the Conference with goals as we have found to our cost, Beano is under contract for next year so you have to assume he is staying. Lafayette if he's not considered the answer has to be moved on despite being under contract for next year and Yemi despite being a crowd favourite does not score enough goals - I don't think he's hit more than 10 in a season for at least 5 years. Tubbs has proved he can score at this level but our style of playing at present does not suit him at all. CT has a major headache over the summer in trying to find 1 or 2 players up front who can get 20 goals at this level. We could also do with a commanding CH such as Gowling at Grimsby and a midfielder in the Suvs/Stanley bracket who will demand more of the team when we need to dig in for a game. Lots of hard work required in recruitment and hopefully we will have learned from January.

We should go after Padraig Amond from Grimsby if they don't go up, because if you take him out of their side they will be mid table at best!

I suspect a couple of more like this on the list also, but that is the point. The angle, as we have discussed recently in relation to Coulson, is to find this type of player on his way up, or down if released from higher academies, in order to cash in on them at the right times.
This is exactly the right approach but the worry was CT did not play these types when we had them, we had that young full back whose name I can't recall from Northampton I think, another from Swansea, he keeps saying he has had his eye on them for some time and then does not back it up with playing time, and we had a lot of tired legs out there from February onwards yet on he went with them, not giving youth a chance, just why did he take that lad from Swansea? The fear is if he does not find better players than he already has, they will still be here come the new season and we will not be a top five team. They've tried, they failed, break the squad up, we need 8-10 new ones. Luke Coulson was a find and a half, brilliant piece of work to get him. Ben Whitfield looks a diamond too, but I guess League clubs might be in for him, if not, let's get him if we can, a goal scoring midfielder, I don't see him remaining at Kidderminster following relegation. I would rather we build a young team up with next season being a bedding in season for the team to mount a serious challenge the following year, but if they achieved a year earlier than planned that would be even better. I marvel how Cheltenham got rid of all their players after relegation and found 18-19 new ones yet they won the league, it is quite remarkable, it would have been the football story of the season if it wasn't for Leicester....I loved the comment from a Leicester fan when asked how it felt to win the league "Its like winning the Grand National....on a cat" superb reply.

Totally agree, he may be a t1t to oppositions fans, but i'd rather we had him in our side than play against him.

Hes had 2 clubs in between Southport - York. Both were only ever going to be short term moves.
