Another idea is to reward loyalty.
So....If RENEWING your ST, you get the lower price. Then you could have an Early bird for any potential "new" ST holders at a slightly higher price, then have the general sale of ST's in the last month or so before the season starts.
Renewel = £120
Early Bird "New" ST = £135
Post EB ST price = £150
Lets face it, not many buy at the full price, so you could even make that £200, which will inevitably mean that everyone jumps in early for the £120 & £135 take ups...
But my key question remains, why does the "early bird" have to be soooo early?
I'm sure the club like to generate a chunk of money, so that they can go into the player recruitment early using that money, but in truth, even if you got 1000 ST holder buying at the current EB ST price of £120, then its only generating £120k, which although is a fair sum of money to all of us, its a drop in the ocean for our leadership and really just means that we have barely any gate income throughout the season, as around 50% of our home gate have already bought their ST..
ERC raises a very good point in that if we all really cared about the club, we shouldn't buy the early bird ticket, but should volunteer to pay the full price ST, so as to put more money into the club. Of course, not everyone will see it that way and 90% of people want to spend as little as they can, but some could see this as a way of helping the club more, by paying the extra £30.
All that said, with SD in charge, the club doesn't need to go cap in hand to its fan base and i think that's why SD tries to keep everything really cheap for the fans, which should be applauded. Money doesn't really appear to be an issue for EFC and we are one of a very small band of clubs who are in that envious position, which makes this "early bird" time frame even more puzzling to comprehend as to why the deal ends before this season has even finished.
EB offers should be extended to the end of June in my book. I see no valid rationale as to why it needs to be 2 months earlier than that, and effectively meaning we are being road railed into buying a ST 22 weeks ahead of the new seasons start date...? That's crazy isn't it?
