Its true, I was one of them...that's how I know. I left because the football was dreadful, I suspect everybody else shared the same thought. Many thanks for your fantastic support. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Ashamed of myself? It's a game of football. I feel more shame in the fact I missed one home game all season & shouted myself hoarse on several occasions, only to be treated to that inept spineless display at the time when Eastleigh football club's first eleven really needed to step up a gear & failed miserably. They were rubbish Saturday & bored me senseless.

Hundreds were walking down the road with 15 minutes left. To tell a fellow supporter to go support Sutton is well below the belt, he's entitled to his views and he is definitely a very emotional person when it comes to EFC because he really cares, truly, and he is frustrated. We all are, and most of us are disappointed for SD who always has a smile no matter how he feels inside. I apologise if I offended anyone especially bomber - my reference to Sutton was a little out of order. I'm sure our team appreciates the away support and especially the last game so lets just get back to supporting the team on Saturday and not go because we (supposedly) have nothing to play for . That's ok. I view it as a game of football is going on while I'm socialising with mates & hoping something exciting happens. Yes, I'm a s/t holder & did a few away games 'n all, but it's not the be all & end all of life. I don't get ashamed for walking out early if I feel the team aren't trying hard enough. I'd be ashamed if I got Brahms & List & sobered up realising I'd made a complete berk of myself at the game, but not for leaving early.

We need GIVERS, players who will put themselves on the line for the club, wear the badge with pride, NOT the takers who think the money's good and I've got another contract, so what, who cares!! Brutal but true for a number of em....key point is this, when they are gone, they won't care a jot, us fans will still be there, hoping and dreaming...some players do care. I was mighty impressed when Glen Southam turned up for a match after he left, speaking to the fans, he love's our club and he will always have my respect for that.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ this is exactly it. Football and Saturdays in general, are more about the allday day out for many of us. Its not just about the 90 mins of football. Sadly, there are plenty of folk who just cannot comprehend that concept.

I recognise we are all entitled to our opinion, and we are likewise entitled to walk out with 100's of others 15 minutes from the end of our most important game of the season. I just COMPLETELY fail to get it. I found Saturdays games many things but at no point boring. Whatever your opinion I am sure of one thing. There is not one player on Saturday wearing an Eastleigh shirt who didn't care and was only there for the money. Do you seriously think that the likes of Ben Strevens, Will Evans, Ross Flitney etc etc would tolerate anybody like that Do you think Chris Todd would accept that from his players? If you do you are totally wrong, and IMO it is disgraceful to throw that accusation at them. It is so easy to accuse footballers of not trying, but wrong. They will all have been distraught Saturday night, they all care about themselves and their profession to have done their best. Criticise them for not being very good, but don't suggest they cheated the club and the fans, for I don't believe this to be true at all. And were I a player reading this I would be spitting blood.

Hmm strange post there, Keith. I wasn't at the game, but when i have been to other games, i could never say players aren't trying & don't care, i've not seen that at all, well maybe with one exception, but he's no longer at the club. Facts are, as a team, they were not good enough. The sooner people face that fact, the better. Then we can all move on to next season, where we will hopefully bring in some better players, who will make us good enough. It's football, you can't win em all, but as long as the players give their best efforts in line with the managers tactical instructions, you can't beat them up with not trying accusations, just because they came up short.

Care to name any of these players? I've seen a few who have underachieved this season, but I don't think I've seen any not trying. Yes, I've wondered why they've underachieved, too, but I doubt whether anyone's making enough money here to live in the lap of luxury, even if they may be well-paid relative to the National League.

So do I - but I'm finding it quite amusing that some of the posters on here who have claimed how much they care about the club, have told us all what they would put right, and who sing SD's praises to the hilt (I have no problem with any of these things, by the way) don't seem to be bothered if someone gets bored and leaves early in the last 15 minutes of their team's most important match of the season, with all still to play for. In fact, I thought the last 20 minutes of the match were quite exciting as Tranmere know they had to win as a draw would be no use, went for it, and Eastleigh had to respond. 0-0 would also have been a fair result on Saturday, 0-1 was, I felt, a little harsh.

If Eastleigh is your team then you should really support them to the very end, winning 5-0 or losing 5-0. That's what the definition of support is. Floaters and people semi interested I kinda get.

LOL, You mean me i take it HL......What i actually eluded to, was that i suspected most of those who walked out early were probably floating fans. I also eluded to the fact that as they had paid their £15 to get in to watch what should have been an enthralling football match, when it transpired that it wasnt the exciting spectacle they had envisaged, they decided it would be more interesting to head for the nearest pub or head home. Lots of people who were bored of games used to just head to the clubhouse bar early, but at this level we are not even allowed to open a bar whilst the game is in progress (another ludicrous ruling). So no, i dont have any problem with others leaving early, if they choose to do so. Surely it is their choice to make and who are we to rubbish them for doing so?
This place is a football forum, we can all say what we would put right with the team, we can all say what we like/dislike about our owner/manager or players. Noting wrong with any of that is there? What would be the point of a football forum without those topics?

I've seen a few who have underachieved this season, but I don't think I've seen any not trying. Underachieving means that a full effort hasn't been made. Kids at school underachieve when more is expected of them. Roughly translated it means they haven't given it their best shot. Now I haven't said the players haven't tried, I did say they played rubbish and bored me senseless. Three measly shots on target over 90 minutes suggests it was a poor spectacle, and in an entertainment business I have every right to head back to the pub.

Yes Bomber I agree with you. You do have every right to head back to the pub. I am just stating that I find it incredible that with EFCs situation so critical you would choose to leave the game whilst it was still in progress. In the last few minutes I found the game on such a knife edge I could hardly watch it. But heh we are all so different such is the rich tapestry of life.
If true that a large number of EFC fans left that game 15 minutes early, I would say that is probably the biggest surprise I have had in 51 years of following football.

Sattsy - you have hit the nail on the head - Its £5 for ST holders £15 for floating fans. Every fan has an opinion of what makes an entertaining match be it at a Premiership or Wessex League game but as you say it is the matchday experience and IMO as a club Eastleigh provides that and i'm sure will do even when they get promotion. Everyone is friendly from bar staff to Chairman - i cant speak for other clubs at this level but where else would you get a Chairman who takes time to talk to fans and is so open with his comments on here and in person and also so passionate. One final point from me is that whilst i appreciate people like a drink i simply can't understand why, when people come to a football match and pay for it ,they prefer to go to the bar during a game. If they want a drink isn't it best that the go to a pub so they don't need to pay an extra £15

I reckon a handful (at most) of EFC fans left early & maybe a couple of dozen casuals left early to beat the traffic. Can't believe it was anywhere near hundreds.
Pretty embarrassing stuff TBH.
This is the sort of stuff other clubs post on their forums as "proof" that Eastleigh are a tinpot club.

I can't speak for others but I never saw many leaving when I left. As for the rest of it, they were that poor, offering nothing in front of goal, completely devoid of ideas and football thinking, I had a hunch I was wasting my time stood there, and the resulting stats back this up. It was as bad as Guiseley the other week and I stayed to the end for that one. The players have shown they can give it a go, I just didn't understand the cautious approach on Saturday. The Barrow game was really good and top drawer entertainment, they should do that every time. I've already renewed my s/t for next season, to show my support. Wether I can stick every game out for 90 minutes...who knows?
