Solihull Moors have definitely been in the Conference North for at least 3 seasons, maybe more. According to their website their first game was in the old Blue Square Conference North in 2007 - against Barrow, to bring this thread half back on track.

I went on their website where their Manager Marcus Bignot reflected on winning The National North title this week. The last paragraph of his statement reads:
My plan was always to achieve promotion in either this or next season – to do so at the first attempt automatically with three games in hand is the stuff of dreams. Thank you to everybody who has enjoyed the journey with us!
I'm sure most people reading it would have thought the same as I did.....and I would still swear they came up last season!!!!! However it seems they didn't, but that statement is very confusing.

Solihull Moors have been in the Conference North since 2007/08 season. At the end of 2006/07 Moor Green and Solihull Borough merged - the new Solihull Moors took Moor Green's place in the Conference North for 07/08.

No Ian, not the Managers first season, he took over in 2012 I believe. I simply have no recollection of Solihull Moors being in National North these past few years so I was under the impression they came up. Whatever the Manager was trying to say, he said it badly when you read "to do so at the first attempt automatically". They are worthy Champions though, lead from start to finish and handled all the pressure that went with it. I've got a sneaky feeling we won't be playing them next season in The National League.

Just had a look at the Marcus Bignot statement.
I think his "first attempt" is with reference to his "plan.......to achieve promotion in either this or next season".
I like his comments about how they realised they had to manage expectations when they were doing well as the season progressed.
They seem to have an interesting history of managing expectations and developing for the long term. Marcus Bignot's first season in charge was 2011/12. He lost all his pre-season friendlies and the first seven league games (Conference North) on the bounce. He ended the season escaping relegation by just one point. The club nevertheless stood by a manager they believed in and have clearly benfited in the best possible way.
I would expect them to do very well in the Conference National next year. According to their website they have signed 11 new players this season with National League experience and I would guess that won't be the end of their player recruitment.

On the subject of Bashley I think that some of their fans have been giving them good vocal support throughout the season I certainly admire these fans and nobody could accuse them of being glory hunters.
