Never in doubt(!)
Seriously the 2nd half was uncomfortable viewing.
Got there in the end though :-)

Much better start to the game today. Little wobble in the middle but picked it up again at the end!

Great credit has to go to Toddy for the substitutions. Yemi and Midson both did great jobs when they came on.man of the match for me was Luke Coulson, great win now on to saturday!

Probably the best football played for a number of weeks. Much more energy and pace from the team. The return of Strevens in the middle certainly made a difference. It was as predicted not easy though! Barrow could have easily got a draw at the end. They'll be a decent side next season and fair play to their 65 fans travelling down here. Great atmosphere in the shed tonight with their 10 German bombers chant!

Various points
Amazed how many people disgruntled in different parts of ground with Tubbs.
First 20 mins kept on floor so shows it can be done on that pitch as best we have looked as a team for a while. Stop using it as an excuse.
Exactly what I said about Beano and Cheltenham. He is a 6 yard box player with balls from out wide. Feed him right and he will get 20+ a season with them.
From 30 mins to 70 mins it was average and reverted back to type. Went 2-0 up and we went risk adverse to a degree
Midfield miles closer to front line today and it showed.
Tubbs needs to just put his foot through it.
Partington and Coulson combo continues to improve.
Jai outshines the more senior Drury for me. One passes forward, one passes backwards.
Shocking marking for corner.
We need to be clinical. Our finishing is poor.
Everyone contributed, not one person played poorly today. Barrow don't go on the run they have had by being poor, so we must have done our job right as they looked no better than Welling or Chester.
Flitney save and hold at the end was top notch.
Turley looked a real unit as of late.
Braintree pulled out a result, but Wrexham are done.
3pts in bag. Well done Todd and team for continuing run.

That's more like it, Spitfires. Best all round display since Bolton away, I would suggest. When did we last score 3 goals? Disappointed to concede the goal, but it was deserved by Barrow. Big plus was no red or yellow cards. Thought the ref had an excellent game, they do when you don't notice them. More of the same on Saturday, please. 3292 crowd was a lot more than expected, lets hope a few of the extras come back for the next two Saturdays.

Enjoyed the game from start to finish. I thought Turley was excellent in the first half, strength and pace at the back. Partington looks like a good shout for player of the season and Luke Coulson put in another great performance. Oh and the atmosphere in the ground was brilliant.

From the other end I couldn't see what happened with the Barrow chance/Flitney save on around 92 mins.
Was sure it was in and waiting for net to ripple and the noise from the away fans which fortunately never came!
In all honesty I didn't think we were that good tonight. Better going forward but not so good at the back. On another night a 2-2 draw.
Still on the positive side I do think we deserved the win and great to see a striker score a goal :0)

Best game seen at the Silverlake for a while, we played well enough and Barrow were good on the break (particularly Cook) and didn't make it easy for us. The result was in doubt right up to the end.
Beano played well, the goal helped; Tubbs got involved a bit more but showed a lack of confidence when presented with a chance. The first goal was an example of that, he should have buried the first chance but was hesitant and it was lucky that his follow-up volley, which was going miles wide, fell for Coulson to head in.
Coulson had another good game, particularly first half, although I'm not sure what position he was playing in at times :-)
Main difference for me was the centre of midfield - Strevens and Drury were as solid as ever and provided a great platform for our attacks. We missed them!
Barrow looked very dangerous on corners - not sure if that's their speciality or we need to do a bit of work there.
The whole event looked very well organised to me - the crowd figure that was announced was quite amusing though.

Big difference tonight was that we played with width and pace. I thought Coulson was easily MOTM, but it's as I told you, you give him the service and JC will score goals. He did miss a sitter, I'll give you that, but if we play like we did tonight Saturday, we'll win. The other big plus tonight, was the defeat for Grimsby, although in many ways we would have wanted them to win, it looks to me as though they could be going into the play offs on a big downer. Eastleigh - Dover for the play off final anyone?

Constable scores!! Credit where its due, so well done for him on that. It does not change my overall view though, 'one swallow does'nt make a summer' he will not be the 25+ striker we need, and we need two of them to be honest. But I will put that issue to bed for now.....I just have this very strange feeling this morning that we're going to Wembley to play Dover for a football league place!!!! The results elsewhere these last few weeks have opened a door which should have been firmly shut by now, yet here we are, very much favourite now to grab that last spot. It reminds me of that famous quote, "Football, bloody hell" This is the finger of fate working, we have not played well for months yet we are still hanging in there, it is unbelievable to be in our hands. It will just be my luck that we get to Wembley and I'll be in hospital having a knee replacement done, it should be in the next four weeks or so. Maybe I deserve that sort of karma for all my moaning but I'll have to work through it, luck eventually turns so they say!!!! Saturday brings an Altrincham team fighting for their lives, they have to come to win, nothing else will do with their final two matches a home game against Welling and a finish at Braintree. Pressure for both teams then, nervy opening probably, and the first goal crucial to settle one side down. It would be fate, and bring a smile to my face if Constable were to get it, I'd have to laugh, truly, and look to the sky for that karma finger pointing at me, and I'll shake my fist skywards...Football, bloody hell...

Firstly, what an absolutely cracking game of football, end to end stuff with both teams playing some neat & tidy football. It was my first game since the Bromley game i think, and i really enjoyed it. As for how i saw it....NOW i see what all the fuss is about with Coulson, who was easily MOM. It was close though between him, Parts & Greener, who were raiding down the wings all night. Coulson and Parts really compliment each other and both are full of running in support of each other down the right flank, both going forwards and defending as a duo too. Greener has to do it all alone, so hat's off to his workrate, as he doesn't really get the left midfield support that Coulson gives to Parts. The midfield did well and as others have said, were much closer in to the front line when they needed support. Jai & Dury get the plaudits, but Strevens for me does so much work in behind them covering up and making sure they have the platform to push on. Despite my comments on here, i was really pleased to see Beano get his goal and he should have had 2, but he played well enough to warrant his starting spot last night. Tubbs looks out of form and severely lacking confidence, but he just needs a goal from open play and he'll be ok. As for Barrow, i thought they posed us quite a lot of questions, particularly down the left hand side when they attacked, but it was corners where they were always going to get their joy, and the 4 corners in succession in the first half, should have made us aware of the quality of their set pieces. It could have gone either way at the end in what was an enthralling finish with their keeper making some fantastic saves from Yemi & of course Flits making a great save just before we got our third.
So well done all, well done Toddy for getting the lads playing football again, and well done to the 3,292 people who came along on what was a glorious evening, lets hope the 1,200 extras who came along, come back on Saturday. Seeing a brilliant game like that, will certainly have helped.
I was stood just along from Dossie & Dave Hughes last night, who were clearly scouting players....they are now 1 point clear at the top of the conf south with a game in hand too, so its looking like they will be in the Conf Prem next season. I suspect they were looking at our players, with a view to taking any that we might release....
