My first EFC game was when I saw Swaythling play at Sholing Sports, can't remember the year but it must have been around 1971-1973.
First what I'd call proper EFC game was 2007/08 friendly v Pompey.

My first game would have been at Malden Town FC of the Surrey Senior League (Now Combined Counties) in 1957 with my Grandad. Recall watching Chertsey Town, Addlestone and Camberley but can't remember which was the first.
First game I ever went to on my own was 1960 Wimbledon v Bromley at Plough Lane - took the Trolleybus to Wimbledon Town Hall and walked from there. (for younger readers a trolleybus was a bus that couldn't get lost) It was firework night and the game finished under floodlights -which most NL grounds didn't have in those days. Magic.

First game would be as Swaythling around 1971/72 but who they played I can't recall, score was 0-0 I think because I moaned I never saw a 0-0 while watching Pirelli. I do remember that game Pirelli v Eastleigh in 1980 though. Since I started to properly support Eastleigh my first game was a home game v Bishops Stortford, we lost 2-1. My first away game with Eastleigh was the following midweek at Dorchester, a 4-0 win and a superb Jamie Slabber hat trick. (2010?)
Professional first match was in 1967 Southampton 3 Leicester City 5 I wanted to watch Gordon Banks but he was injured so a young goalie took his place much to my disappointment, and he scored a goal, he kicked it downfield, one bounce over the goalie and into the net....Peter Shilton!!

First game I ever saw live was (aged 8) 22 Nov 1992 Barnet v Cardiff City W 2-1 League Division 3 Which somewhat regrettably led to a lifetime (thus far) of hope and disappointment following the bees.
Have been wracking my memory for my first Eastleigh game and can't come to an exact date, shame it wasn't more memorable. Can't say I really remember much pre-Baird at least although I'm sure I came to least a couple of the early Conference South games, and regular from around the time Tony Taggart joined.
First away game - Tuesday, 17 February 2009, v. Fisher Athletic (played at Dulwich Hamlet I think?) controversial because they had appointed one of the female turnstile operators as manager for the game!?
Anyway, here's to plenty more games in the future. When is the deadline for renewing my season ticket??

My first first-team game at the Silverlake was the 6-1 defeat of Bromley in August 2009 and is easy for me to recall as my attendance is mentioned in a book!
Previous memorable games which stick in the memory include Brazil 2, Bulgaria 0 and North Korea 3, Portugal 5. Both were 1966 World Cup matches played at Goodison Park.
Pele scored for Brazil but spent most of the 90 minutes of the group match being kicked up in the air by the enthusiastic but brutal Bulgars. North Korea went 3-0 up in the first 25 minutes of their quarter final match but Eusebio brought Portugal back into the game with a masterclass performance.
I can also recall Everton's European Cup matches at Goodison against Inter Milan in 1963 and v Borussia Monchengladbach ("Give us a B!") in 1970. Up to the 1970's English teams generally took to the pitch 10 minutes before kick off and spent that time warming up. Everyone was therefore amazed to see the BM players appear in their training tops half an hour before the start for a warm up and kick about, return to the dressing room with 10 minutes to go and then reappear in their match kit immediately before kick off. It wasn't long though before everyone was doing that and we now consider that to be the norm.
There have been a lot of other memorable matches, some of the best having been relegation escapes including Bournemouth's football league survival.
Experiences almost lost in the mists of time include South Liverpool as a small child in the 50's (first to have those floodlights I think Tony), and First Division Everton away games against Preston NE and Bolton with no segregation.
There are of course plenty of Everton and Eastleigh memories but another unusual experience was travelling on a coach to Old Trafford from Peterborough in the 70's for Posh's FA Cup tie v Man U.

Sounds to me like another 'who is Eastleigh's greatest/most loyal/longest surviving/best friend of Stewart's fan thread. *rolls eyes*!!

Sounds to me like another 'who is Eastleigh's greatest/most loyal/longest surviving/best friend of Stewart's fan thread. *rolls eyes*!! I've found it to be a fascinating thread. I honestly don't think anyone is trying to prove a point as you seem to suggest upthespitfires but even so, surely there's nothing wrong with being proud to have been a supporter for a long while. That's always providing you don't mind giving your age away. I don't think Stewart was born when most of the matches I've mentioned took place!.

My 1st Eastleigh game was on 21st September 2013 - the free game against Hayes & Yeading so i am a newbie compared to others but am still coming along(and have renewed my ST). With the free game against Barrow coming up if this attracts others like me then it is a good thing.
My 1st ever game was at Craven Cottage but can't remember who against as it was in the late 50's but the great Johnny Haynes was providing the magic.

Sounds to me like another 'who is Eastleigh's greatest/most loyal/longest surviving/best friend of Stewart's fan thread. *rolls eyes*!! It was actually to just get some other discussion going instead of just talking about the play offs etc and is why I also brought up earliest football memories in general, not just EFC. I can start a thread about car parking if you wish. Find out who the most loyal car parker is and if they have a particular spot they first remember parking in ? Hope your eyes are OK though.

Ballboys post is the most prevalent post on this thread, imo. All of us who have been coming for a few years are very proud that we have been here a while, but its great to hear of the newer folks, who came as part of a free game deal and have continued coming each week & are now season ticket holders. That's a better gauge for me, than batting over 1980's vs 1990's first game bragging rights. Not to say these others are bragging, they are not, but it doesn't mean much these days if you started coming in he 80's, 90's or 20's, but what does matter is that we have more fans like Ballboy who have been coming for the last year or so, and are now knitting themselves into the fabric of the club. Let's hope this time next year we hear a few stories of new fans now being season ticket holders after coming along to the Free Barrow game this season. That will mean a lot more to the club, than only having people who have been coming for 10+ years. Growth & looking forward is far better than looking backwards & reminiscing...so they tell me anyway...

Fear not - it was just a bit of a joke really going by some recent posts!! It is interesting to hear about people's first matches - can't believe you all remember so far back. I'm sure my first match was at the Dell but ask me the opponents and the date I wouldn't have a clue lol. BTW great post Sattsy - I'm a pretty new supporter and now look forward to the games week in week out. We are all there to give our team the support they deserve - be us old fans or new ones. SD has worked wonders getting more people to come along with these free games and if we can get a few more season tickets sold because of them, then it's working well (I've managed to collar in a couple more friends to be season ticket holders after one of our free matches) :-)

Good thread in my opinion.
Maybe even better thread title would have included - 'and why'
I started coming to Eastleigh due to sitting next to a lad in English class one day and him saying what he got up to at weekends with his dad, being 14 I didn't know of any such club in the town (I lived at the opposite end of town).
He got me hooked the b*stard.

vs Basingstoke on Boxing Day one year, can't remember which year but 2000 and something, pretty sure it ended 3-2 although I'm not sure if we won or lost, then attended the odd game once in a while before committing to a season ticket last season. Love the thread and given the references to Sholing Sports v Eastleigh I may have seen them play there when I was at school as we went a lot, but I wouldn't have a clue if they were even in the same league when I was going let alone if I saw them!

Every club must have its Jonah - and I am prepared to admit that in the past it might have been me - I moved around the country a lot over the years and usually followed my local club, but they never had a lot of luck in the long run.
Malden Town (folded) Wimbledon (lost ground and identity) Workington (lost league status) Luton Town (lost league status) Aldershot Town (lost league status)
Then I turned the corner -
Kings Langley FC (3 promotions) Eastleigh FC (3 promotions)
