The Hampshire Cup final between Havant & Winchester, has been deemed as an "all ticket" match on police advice - Pathetic! You cannot pay on the door on the night at ST Marys, so that will tip things in our favour aswell, but i feel sorry for Winchester & Havant, who should not be subjected to pathetic Police interference like this!
Not sure that Barrow midweek is an ideal game for a promo like this, but i guess we are running out of games to put another one in, so this one got the vote.

Apparently it is because of Havant & Waterlooville having a PO postcode.

Indeed they do, but do they have a history of football violence, no they do not. This game IS NOT Portsmouth V Southampton! But the Police will pretend it is, so that they can claim lots of overtime & expenses no doubt. There will only be 1'000 people there, in a 32,000 stadium. The police really are not very good at policing if they cannot control two non league teams in that environment. You don't even need a police presence for a game like that, it makes the whole competition laughable.

Great stuff from the club. I think this is certain to be a vital game for our playoff chances, whatever happens in the next couple of games.
Could we break 3000? I guess if it's a nice evening we have a chance!

3000 would be good, but we limit the amount of kids who would come along with their mums and dads when its an evening game in school term time.

I think most of the recent free entry games have been in the evening. Truro, Dartford and Forest Green. Hayes and Yeading is the only free game at 3pm on a saturday that I can remember. I still think its a great offer by the club to help increase the fan base.

Pompey are not playing that night. I suspect that that police have "intelligence" about certain persons from the PO postcode planning to cause some naughtiness at St Marys. Seems an overreaction if no threat has been identified.

It won't stop the hooligans, just the casual fans who may decide to go at the last minute.

I know quite a few Pompey fans and some of them are classed as trouble makers. I wouldn't mind bettering that they did not even know this game is on!! Never mind even thinking about crossing over to the SO to cause trouble between 2 non league football teams, they care and know little about. Make no mistake, Pompey fans really don't care about Havant and its only BECAUSE the Police have now stepped in, that these people are starting to hear about the game.....maybe the whole Police presence thing, rouses trouble makers. In my experience, the Police at football matches are certainly a conduit to trouble occurring, if not actually sparking the trouble in the first place by their sheer presence and heavy handedness.

Agree with last posts, people almost think - well the police are there so we might as well cause trouble!

The same "police intelligence" that made the Hampshire Police follow us up to Barnet away last year and follow about 30 of us around the pubs of London Town. Then during the game, where they made their presence felt, they had to pull one of our fans out and arrest him on a trumped up racial abuse charge, which was later dropped, of course. They did that purely to justify their presence and expense. They are the cause, not the defenders of people liberty's. They read these forums by the way, that was how they knew who was traveling by train to Barnet! Maybe they saw one comment on the Havant forum from a known hooligan, and from that, they go completely over the top, as usual.

Are the club issuing tickets for this game, I believe free games in the past had to be ticket entry?
