Heard much of the commentary on radio solent. Sounds like there could/should have been more than 1 goal.
Not to worry, a great & vital win.
Good other results though Wrexham winning at the death in the teatime match definitely puts them in the frame.

Just got back. The game was very good. Loads of action, bookings, all that. Return traffic was a bloody nightmare!!

Ummmm, it's a Bank Holiday Monday, Bomber, what did you expect the traffic to be like? Well done to you and the other 110+ for making the effort, though.

The two noteable features on arrival in Torquay were the long established "Welcome to the English Riviera" signs and displays, and the brand new by-pass road. I like the new road layout which seemed to get me into the town quickly. Not sure about the English Riviera though. I noticed a 6 degree outside temperature reading in the car driving home. That's just slightly warmer than my fridge and it's nearly April. Oh for the good old days of global warming. Whatever happened to that?
The cold and wet didn't matter though. Nor did the awful cheese burger and chips (no pies available as they had expected the game to be called off). We got our fourth win out of five (and 5th out of 7). Getting that win away was worth a lot.
Anyone looking at the team sheet before yesterday's match might have thought we had a new new manager. The Eastleigh manager was listed as Colin Todd! It was very reassuring when the right C Todd appeared.
Hopefully we can keep up the ongoing improvement in form. For one thing we always seem do well when Stewart goes on holiday. He must leave some good luck behind him when he goes.
Seriously though, yesterday's all round performance was very encouraging and the team played the situation well after getting that superb early goal. The back four were excellent, great stuff in midfield and actually a lot of chances created. We did seem to pose a new set of problems to keep Torquay tied up when Matt Tubbs came on and Yemi went wide. I'd say there's plenty of mileage in a Tubbs, Constable partnership based on the last 15 minutes.
I'm still confused about all the yellow cards which the referee seemed to hand out whenever he appeared to get into a strop. Yemi and Matt Tubbs were carded for standing their ground against physical pressure from a couple of Torquay's big lumps. In the same match a Torquay player was able to demonstrate his all in wrestling skills by picking Dan Harding up and literally throwing him off the pitch without being penalised. (That was a reaction to Dan out thinking and outplaying him to see out a threat down their right wing). The referee saw it clearly because he said something to the player but it was very inconsisitent.
We left the ground around five thirty and came back along the Honiton, Bridport, Ringwood route (A30, A35, A31, M27) and had a very quick straight forward drive with no hold ups.
