How we can pick Tubbs over Beano is completely beyond me. The minute I saw that line up I was wondering where the goals were going to come from. For the first 40 minutes of this game we were rubbish, lethargic clueless and it looked to me, as though we were playing our first pre season friendly. In this league if you play nearly half the game like that you won't beat anybody and won't deserve to.
As for Welling, given that they have not won a game for months, are obviously going to go down and played with 10 men for over an hour, I thought they showed tremendous character and Commitment, and were a credit to themselves and the manager.

If there is one player that we should get, it's got to be Welling's no 15, because of his glorious name. NORTEI NORTEY would be a dream for the lads in the Shed, singing Shamen's Ebeneezer Goode:- NAUGHTY NAUGHTY, VERY NAUGHTY

Never met a bigger bunch of bell ends in my life. What 15 year old tries to start a fight with a group of adults in the away area? Do they not realise we go through the same exit? Great image for SD "family club" philosophy. Felt shameful to even be seen standing in the Same stand and supporting the same club as them. When you see people move their children away because other adults move over to encourage the aggro behaviour just shows how bad it was. Got a lot of work before it gets anywhere near what Stewart wants the club to be. Guess thats the downside of cheap season tickets... Shut up you tart! The opera is that way --------->

'Fanimo drove me nuts today. He reminded me of Ronaldo early doors at United'. Reminded me more of Nani....
Very interesting post from SOE - one player I would disagree with is Josh Payne - he hasn't quite done it this season for me - lots of effort, but in the last few games he's had the chance to shine and be the leading man in midfield, in the absence of Drury and Strevs, and in my opinion he hasn't quite stepped up. He's been good, but not brilliant. Even against his old club, Woking, he didn't seem as fired up as I would have expected. Also not particularly convinced by his partnership with Reason in central midfield in the last few games - good for holding a result but with the skill both have they should be able to break down defences like Welling's. Again we seem to be missing one of our stronger players (mentioned above) there.
On the other hand, Partington as captain and centre-back has been a success so far.

"Why we persist with playing it long for the first half hour or so is beyond me. Before the sending off Welling were easy on the eye, keeping the ball on the floor and moving it well, they got into the final third comfortably and began to look dangerous. The sending off changed all that, from then on they could'nt really threaten our goal, but they worked tirelessly and deserved the point."
What I didn't understand was the decision to play hoofball for the entire first half - I know the surface is less than ideal but frankly this was embarrassing. No clear shots on target for 40 minutes. Second half was a lot better (but it couldn't have been any worse to be honest). There seemed to be much more effort, more belief. Why couldn't we play like that for 90 minutes?

Brian Clough once said "If God meant us to play football in the clouds he'd have put grass up there" Enough said about 'hoof football'.

I saw us trying to pass it a bit in the second half only for the pitch to hinder us. We've won our last three home games by playing in a certain style, putting pressure on the opposition. We didn't do that against Welling.
Switching the focus of attack to the right in the second half led to us looking more dangerous, as I said earlier.

My 12 year year old lad wants to know why yet again we're hoofing the ball up to the two smallest players on the team to win headers when this is clearly not going to work.
It didn't work in the first game we tried it but I told him it was probably a clever experimental tactic that Toddy had. So why do it again when it clearly was not a viable tactic.
It's similar to the experiment where if the monkey opens box A he gets an electric shock, if he opens box B he gets an electric shock, if he picks box C he gets a banana.
He learns not to open boxes A and B.
It's time use some common sense here, or let my 12 year old have a go.

Re Matt Fanimo, anyone who reminds you (SS) of Ronaldo at any stage of his development will do for me. I was reminded a bit more though of Peter Beagrie.
Re his re-emergence, with Tom Holland deciding to go back to Swansea it was possibly as good a time as any to give him another chance. At least he was always looking for the ball and putting himself about. That was refreshing even if he was frustrating at times.
Re the American presidential candidate, I think it's a bit harsh to call Hilary an idiot even if she is rich and dangerous.
Re the game overall I couldn't really add anything to what hantslondoner has said which is spot on I think. Late season games against relegation threatened sides down to 10 men will always be tricky and we didn't manage to find the wherewithal to deal with it on the day. On a positive note, was it just me or did anyone else think Will Evans was outstanding at times yesterday?
As it is, all we have to do now to be reasonably sure of being in the play offs is win our next 8 matches. I think we did it last season so why not again? We will have Ben Strevens and hopefully Andy Drury, Jamie Turley and Paul Reid available again soon giving us the numbers we need to put out our fittest in-form 11 for the run in.
Another positive note was yesterday's 2000+ attendance. If we do win the last 8 we'll be getting 2500 by end of season.

It is in our hands. If we win the last 8 games we will be in the play offs. So it does not matter then if Dover and Braintree win just 7 of theirs then ? We win all 8 and we are OK ?
