Hmmm, i retired myself from Golf a few years back. I could coach him if he likes, show him how not to go out wide of the greens, because he really should be hanging around closer to the pin, where he will get more chances to hole a putt. I wouldnt pair him with Tubbs at golf either....

Rendel - This golfing event is only 5 weeks away, yet you haven't invited me to the event via FB, Twitter etc, and i haven't seen you pushing tickets hard on social media. Have the club sacked you from their official staff?, or have you got the message that "unofficial club invites" mean jack sh*t and just annoy people, who are bored at the tedium of it all? Maybe you could start a "buggy hire" thread instead of running the coaches, so that people can get to and from each hole. Maybe Wheelers can help us with that. I trust you will not be in attendance, so maybe lets just leave it to Kenny to get on with.
All banter aside, i think this would be a great day out, but i'll be honest here, i'm not sure why it needs to be £100 a head? I've done 2 of these types of events at East Horton, where you get a bacon roll & coffee on arrival, a lunch & then a presentation at the end of the rounds, but they have been for less than half that cost? A round of golf there is only £20 midweek & if doing a large booking it gets cheaper than that? Maybe its a raising money for charity type of event, although the advert/invite doesnt mention anything like that, so i don't know, but i think the average punter will bulk at £100, especially when they have to take a day off work to attend, so i suspect you'll only get a couple of fans and the rest will all be players and directors. ..I can almost get a season ticket for the price of half a day out golfing?
I hope its a success and they get at least 16 four balls going out, with a player in each. You usually get a couple of players who are very good at golf. I wonder who the EFC top golfer is? I'll take Blakey to win it...

I pay £50 for 36 holes at Rowlands Castle with lunch and bacon rolls, prizes, twos, longest drives, nearest pin etc so fair to say your £100 a head is very expensive, unless of course playing somewhere top notch with high green fees, which East Horton isnt It does not matter who the best golfer is. It's who is the biggest handicap bandit that counts

Yip, thats very true. I sneakily won my company annual golf event a East Horton a few years back playing off 28....i still have my prize (2 whisky tumblers). I went round in 97 i think, which was about 26 over par, so i played relatively true to my handicap, but on the day it was pissing down with rain the entire round, so i think a few of the better players didn't play to their handicaps & some actually gave up after about 12 holes, which let me in...

You won't get me paying £100 I can play there for free when ever I want. Unless that money goes to prize money then I may be tempted.

No way would I pay £100 to play one round at East Horton, it's a crap course. Can't see this being a resounding success amongst average punters at the price and certainly not the quality of the course. I would have thought for that cost of a charity day and 18 holes you would've been looking at Stoneham, Royal Winchester, Meon Valley or Hockley. Think I'll pass on this one.

Interesting timing with it being a few days before our (potentially crucial) last game of the season.
Guessing its more aimed at Corporates rather than fans who are regular golfers, playing with EFC player might be an appeal as well.
I am all for it, thinks its great that we are doing these things outside of the football, beer festival and gig venue as well.
"More than just a football club". All bodes well looking at the next step if we can get this new stadium off the ground

I don't play golf but I'd agree it does look like it's pitched as a corporate event.
I've been to a fair few of those but have no experience of hosting them so don't know what the going rate is. At least they've still got time to offer a discount or incentive if there are too few takers.
Re Blackie's comment about a charity day I get the impression the proceeds would go towards club funds. (If we are going to have a new stadium the money has to come from somewhere.)
I'd guess the club might be proactively pushing the event as well as publicising it on the club website.

No discount needed - 16 teams already entered so space for 8 more but 5 more have reserved and just awaiting so think the rest will sell - we are expecting 24 teams. There is demand at these prices and people realise that actually by participating that EFC will benefit which is great as they want to support the club. I think enough companies and fans have thought to themselves that actually spending a day with the club where the club actually may benefit and it may cost more than a normal round is ok - hopefully with a mindset that we are doing good things in the community so why not give a bit back and have a good time. It is not more excessively priced than other corporate golf days and is less than the ones I usually attend and get invited to. I do get these invites almost daily and the going rate is about what we have charged in fact checking the last few invites I have they are £500 - £800 one of those being a lower league FC club.
The club should generate a little income and everyone have a good day out so as long as people are happy to pay it and have a good time and the club benefit then everyone wins. None of the companies attending thought the price too much and in the corporate world we all expect to pay £500 ish I'm sure - which is why some of those companies also sponsored a hole or longest drive etc. Therefore the club will do well, we will make a donation to charity - hopefully £2500 - and its a good day out.

Cheers for the update Stew. It sounds like this was always targeted to be a corporate event, rather than a fans day of golf with the Players etc, which was how i had misinterpreted it. I hope it's a great success.

That's brilliant for an inaugural event. Might be even bigger next year.

We are going to do a fans golf day also afterwards but will be about half the price. Hopefully we will get some interest in that too.
