Well, as you might guess from my comment that I'd like to see Beano put the defenders under more pressure, I have some similar concerns to those you mention.
I am just not sure how bullet proof Yemi is and whether you can give him 90 minutes in the mixer every match.

Appreciate the analysis on Beano/Tubbs as individuals and as a combination. Since Beano's been here, it seems to me that he's been used as a target man, long balls being frequently pumped up for him to win. Varying success. The analysis would suggest he's not suited to this role. Finding him out on the wings, working hard, suggests he's not been fulfilling that role all the time either. I wonder if both RH's and CT's mindset is that he IS a target man, and until that mindset is changed we will carry on as usual. The ghost of McAllister persists..... Was Ross Lafayette a target man, by the way? Or was he more a Beano-type of player? I agree with others that Midson's been badly underused this season. Again its only my take on it, but regarding Lafayette:- Ross was signed by Hilly, as a striker replacement for Macca who had left to join Sutton. Ross at the time was at Luton Town so was playing (when he played) in a side that was L2 standard having gained promotion from this level. Ross didnt really feature much for Luton, but had a decent record when playing for Welling at this level scoring roughly a goal every 2 games. He was known a pacey striker who would play on the shoulder of the last man. I never saw him as a target man & i dont think Hilly did either. So i think the idea was to play him with Beano and hope that in theory between them they would cause defences problems with a mixture of power & pace. The problem was, neither of them have the ability to win many headers and hold the ball up well, like Macca did, so neither really suit our style. However, i think Hilly realised pretty quickly that Ross was a bit weak at this level and given that our style was to play a power game that had suited Macca & then Beano when he joined, he wasnt suited to it and was pretty much only used as a bench player. Toddy used him in the same way. So what happened was this, we were still set up to play the same way as we had done with Macca in the side, yet we have never found a CF who can really fill Macca's boots. We have tried all combinations to work along side Beano, with none of them really becoming a regular partner that you could say was the right fit. So for me, you either change your style so that you no longer need a target man, or you find a target man. We have done neither and are still trying to play as if Macca was upfront and that is why it often doesn't work. Ross is more of a Tubbs than a Beano, but IMO wasn't prepared to stick a foot in or do the dirty work that our style needs. I know i keep going on about it, but for me, Beano is our odd man out, its not easy to find someone to play alongside him. So why not try a partnership that doesnt include him and although its only been a game and a half, Tubbs & Yemi are already proving that we can become a greater goal scoring threat without Beano in the side. The problem is, Beano is on good money, is an Oxford hero, is loved by everyone at the club and with a status like that, becomes hard to drop. That's why for me, the manager needs to be strong & take some tough decisions, because your best team on paper, is not always the team that works best as a team, and that is exactly what we are seeing over the last couple of game IMHO.

As was proved last night, if he can cause that much damage in 45 mins, then just give him 75 mins and then take him off. That's why we have a Beano and Midson on the bench.

Good result and a solid performance but just want to make a few points. Saw Yemi took a knock in the first half and was seen limping which may explain why he switched position in the 2nd half. I dont think the pairing of Tubbs and Constable works but i would love to be proved wrong. Joe Partington was great again and from what I have seen has been the most consistent performer so far this season. Based on the last few games Coulson looks like a very good signing and a player that puts a good shift in. Also a good atmosphere from the fans again despite the less eventful 2nd half.

Yes, I thought the support was brilliant from the club house end.
And the Partington Coulson link up from touchline to penalty area to create the chance that led to the second goal was superb.

I like the Parts / Coulson link up, very fresh and attacking thinking. Harding / Cook down the other side doesn't quite give that to us, Harding / Green does to a degree but I prefer Green as a tactical sub to give a fresh set of legs to a game.
Something else I'd like to throw in there. Is it just me or does quick free kicks just not work for us? I noticed it first at Braintree where we gave away possession in a good forward position. And seen in almost every game since us give away possession by going for quick takes in the attacking third. They're great when you can take advantage of the other team being on the back foot, but sometimes it's worth taking a breath and using the kick to attack. Anyone seen this or is it just me?

Worth pointing out that the Ref was one of the better ones I've seen in a while. Thought a couple of decisions should have gone Bromleys way in the 2ND half, but otherwise consistent.

Agree Yemi is much better suited as a striker and couldn't really understand the turnaround when Turley came off, Beano on but moving Yemi back again. I can see Toddy was going for a more attacking side but I'm convinced we need to keep Yemi up front. Just not sure who he works best with yet as Tubbsy didn't blow me away on Tuesday night.
