Well for those who weren't there today was not segregated and going from Chester there were around 150 away fans present, which sounds about right.
in the second half as eastleigh kicked towards the shed end there were a bunch of Chester fans there, things got a little overheated and at least 2 Chester fans were removed by stewards. The game was pretty much free of real controversy and of course Chester are mid table with nothing to play for.
i just wonder why/who the policy was changed? It's no big deal from my point of view but non segregating makes things harder for the stewards and significantly increases chances of a more serious "incident".
IMO the previous segregate every game policy was working fine & we should revert to it for the rest of the season.

Every game should be segregated, when we go away we expect to be treated with dignity but also the enemy. This is the level we play at, big stakes. This problem never happens with segregation.

Whilst I have no issue with a small number of away fans being allowed to use our bar, segregation is the only option going forward. I can understand not doing it against, e.g. Barrow, but knowing there were going to be approx 150 Chester fans today, it seems folly not to segregate. Putting all away fans in the Mackoy stand/part of the east terrace improves the atmosphere at the games, even if away fans do out do us for noise, and avoids issues as today's. What was the point of moving the marquee used behind the shed for the Bolton game if it wasn't going to be used to offer hospitality to away fans?
I appreciate that sometimes the numbers visiting do not make it cost effective to offer food and drink ( & what's the situation regarding a drinks licence for other parts of the ground now?) but surely we should endeavour to treat all visitors to the Silverlake in the same welcoming way? We also have the large marquee to the right of the Mackoy stand which hasn't been used since the Bolton game. There must be a way of using the temporary facilities we have on a more regular basis.

The stewards stepped in and removed them at just the right time as it was just about ready to turn nasty.

I believe the two guys were simply moved down to the Chester end, not removed from the ground which was a pretty decent thing to do from our stewards. My understanding was it was just banter which was getting heavy shall we say. Common sense from our stewards who handled it so well, wish other clubs would train their stewards to use discretion better in such situations.

Well I was standing a few feet away and although it started as banter it eventually turned aggressive and abusive and they were obviously in our end to cause trouble.

I'm not defending the Chester fans, just giving our stewards credit in how they dealt with it.

Chester boys were definatly looking for a bit of niggle not banter, even if the segregation isn't total, away fans should not be allowed in the area where the most vocal home support is. Did have to laugh when one of the Eastleigh fans told them not to swear in front of my kids just as the shed were telling the keeper what they thought of his kicking!!

From the FB group & SD it seems like this "experiment" will not be tried again this season.

Think Bromley was not segregated as well, though I believe that the game more a less passed without incident.
Interesting that there was a thread where this subject was raised at the start of the season and many poo pooed the idea of Eastleigh games being segregated.
On a similar note, a contact of mine from Woking informs me that the Woking v Eastleigh will be segregated for the last game of the season. The bar will "not be available to away fans" though you will be able to use if it not wearing colours.

I thought Bromley was segregated as all their fans seemed to be in the Mackoy or end of West stand but then I couldn't understand why we were all leaving together out of the same exits. Surely that's the time where, if emotions are running high, then incidents can happen??!

It could be the old story that football clubs are not responsible for incidents outside the stadium, hence all leaving together. Usually away fans stay behind only on the advice of the police as I understand it. Surprised Bromley fans were allowed out the same time as their fans do have history of causing trouble after games, though they appear to be local away matches, Welling, Dartford and especially Ebbsfleet where they staged a 'mini' riot smashing peoples windows and damaging cars as they made their way to Northfleet Railway Station and the police sealed off the station to arrest the offenders, causing trains to be delayed or cancelled. I believe they were given banning orders from football so I wonder how we control that, would we have had two stewards with photographs at the Bromley turnstile at our ground? Or does banning orders mean the police have to be there checking because it is a court order? Am I right in thinking if you breach a banning order, you return to court to be imprisoned?

I still have fond memories of being held back for an hour after an FA Cup tie final whistle in the away section at The Den.
The police were still not sure if we'd be safe.
Other than that experience though I've never encountered real problems leaving a match, home or away. The friendliest home fans I've encountered as an away team supporter have been West Ham. The nastiest, Chelsea.
