Win less in 10 games is not a "little blip".... Can't blame injuries either. We have had no more than 3 players out injured at any one time, a 22 man squad could cope with that easily. A 16 man squad + youth players, cannot!....So we really cant say we want a small squad with an emphasis on quality and then moan that we have a few out injured effecting the team and balance of the sides we put out. That's why teams have larger squads. And lets be honest here, the 3 that we have had out injured are not even always considered starting 11 players anyway, so it really shouldn't be making that much of a difference. I'm sure we'll turn it around, but it will be too little too late, i'm afraid.

Don't disagree with the 22 man squad at all. Listening to Stuart Donald on air tonight he is talking about three more players on loan. Defender, Midfielder and winger. What is worth noting Sattsy is that just because players are on the pitch does not mean they are not injured and are playing through it. I think it shows especially at the back, where we have players out of position and second to the ball.

Nope, not surprised at all, John. There are times and places to give young players a chance and i'm all for that. What i don't see the point in is, having young players on the bench for league games, that the manager has absolutely no intention of ever using as a substitute in those games. Take tonight, Tony Lee is yet again on the bench, but there is no way in the world that Toddy will use him ahead of Cooky, Midson & Mohammad, so whats the point? Why don't we get ourselves a bigger squad & put players on the bench who the manager feels he can use. We may aswell just name 3 subs right now. Listening to the commentary tonight, it would appear that SD now sees things the same way as i have done for a few weeks now. I see he has indicated he will be bringing 3 new players in before the weekend. Those players all need to go straight into the starting eleven. Good that we are freshening up, but its 4 weeks too late and is going to cost us a play off spot.

Can we give Leicester a ring and borrow Kante for the remainder of the season ?
We need a player like Southam, Brown, Stanley, Adeniyi. Someone who sticks their foot in, passion, an organiser, a governer etc etc
This team severely lacks a leader(s), regardless of recent results. We are soft down the core, which is not something you'd normally say as the standard.

Spot on, SS. They are all too nice and all too quiet. That's fine when you are winning games each week, but when the going gets tough, our lads go into their shadows. I think Toddy is too nice too, where as Hilly would have shaken them and got them angry. We are going through the motions now and there are no signs of us stopping the rot. We are only ever playing for 20 mins each game and that's totally unacceptable!

I was just drawing attention to the fact that you are now suggesting no one will win anything with kids (mmm heard that before somewhere) whereas previously you've said give youth a chance. On your latest point though, anyone who was at the Lincoln game as I was would have seen Tony Lee come on in the second half and offer something to the effort to get back into the game. It might not happen very often but he was given the chance to show.

FWIW - I haven't said no one will win anything with kids, so that's a total misquote on your behalf. What i was eluding to was that Toddy was having to put these kids on the bench because we have an injury and a suspension and we have a small squad. He then puts these kids on the bench, knowing full well its unlikely they will ever be used to try and turn a game we are losing into a game we might either win or gain a point from. Tony Lee came on with 30 mins to go And with us 3-0 down John. There a big difference in putting a lad on with a game in that situation, versus being used to try and change a game. We are not going to get to the play offs, but i fully expect us to keep trying. However, from March, if we are out of it, then play Tony Lee in every game to the end of the season. Give him a chance, let him get top level experience and lets see what he can do, because we will never learn anything having him getting splinters every week. If this club is serious about giving youth a chance, then give them that chance. It wont happen of course and despite Tony signing a contract a few weeks back, he will never become a first team player for us and if that the case, wont we have failed him? Won't we have set him a goal that is un-achievable? When you can go and sign a Matt Tubbs, a Tony Lee doesn't have a prayer. So its not me saying you cant win anything with kids is it...the club are not even trying that route. Maybe they feel the kids are not good enough, they probably aren't. So why bother to have Lee Peacocks Academy? Do they actually play any games? Why do we hear nothing about them? I'll tell you why, its because we know they are too far below our first team level, so the best they can ever hope for is going out on loan to a Wessex or Southern league team, then just eventually drift away from the club, like all those before them have done. If Tony Lee is going to be an exception to that, then he has to start games and he has to get at least 10 games under his belt in the remainder of this season, for him to be considered a serious squad player next season. I'd place a bet that he wont even make the bench and come on more than twice next season. Is that progressing the lad? I think not.
