In front of 809. BTW the Brock team that held Whites to a 0-0 draw on Saturday lost 7-1 last night. Reality seems to have struck hard on the Whites forum this morning.

Looks like they are getting to grips with the Wessex, with some good wins but they must be getting worried about their attendances. They were quoted as hoping for 1000+ but could operate with 800ish,and they started with that but have lost about 100 per game and are now down to 580, which is still phenomenal for Wessex League but can they afford their stadium etc when they are drawing in 200-300 less than they budgeted for?

582 in August - doesn't bode well for those freezing December-February night games.

Do they really need 800 to break even? Sounds mental if so.
Can only see that happening if they are top for most of the season (quite possible).
Wouldn't have thought the raymac costs that much? Are they spurting a load on players again?! At Wessex league level?

I hope you're right Mick. I was just going off something I'd read that Claridge had said pre season about needing 800 to afford the stadium rent & other operating costs.

Not to mention the wages of Mr Claridge himself, who surely is being paid, may I guess, more than all other Wessex League Premier Division Managers put together? Indeed, I'm sure lots of them do it for nothing.

Claridge was quoted in the press as saying they budgeted for 800. He will be gone before the seasons end, citing he cannot commit the time to the job he thought he could, due to his TV commitments.

When did he say this? The season has started, i would concentrate on Eastleigh rather than a wessex league club! People might think you all have a strange obsession!!

Actually I was at the meeting where they discussed crowds, and they never said they were hoping for 1000, in fact he most certainly did not vow to get 1000... The whole board were looking at both sides of the coin, saying they could end up getting 250 a match, or anything up to 1000, and as a result, budgeting was fairly difficult. I have heard nothing official with how much they are actually budgeting for, but I would take a guess at 300-400. We are doing just fine... It seems no matter what a Salisbury based team, i.e. Salisbury City, or Salisbury FC, do, we shall always have someone complaining. We are the most expensive club in the Wessex league, yes. We have the nicest, highest graded ground in the Wessex league, I would say so, yes. We have the highest cost to pay to stay in our ground, I would have to guess we are. We budget to make sure we keep going and don't get into a financial problem, and I think we are doing very well so far. Our playing budget is nothing compared to what some probably think. But yet, we still have people complaining. We are playing some lovely football at the moment, and that will get better as the team gel, and gain more experience. That will attract more. And also, none of you actually know what Steve earns out of this, he has said he isn't in this for money, you all said he would have to, giving up his tv and radio appearances. Now you are saying he will leave because of them. He shows real passion with this team, that's what he is in this for, the team. He is a football man, and loves being part of it, loves managing a team.
