Agree with Barnsey, we seem obsessed with Salisbury FC, we even sing about them!, which i've never understood. They are an RIP football club.

yeah but its good to sing Salisbury city are no more Not sure I like any gloating about a club going under. Its fair game to take the P when your rivals have problems but even at Luton when we would sing about when we were next going to kick the +£!$ out of Watford did we want them to fold. Now those were great Boxing Day fixtures in the 1970/80s (when the trains still ran on Boxing Day).

Now those were great Boxing Day fixtures in the 1970/80s (when the trains still ran on Boxing Day). I remember those days well Tony, and it's why i hate Luton with a passion & was chuffed to bits to see them relegated into non league football & almost go out of business on the way... I can remember one boxing day when they had the police keep us in after the game, only for the nice folk of Luton to launch bricks at us as the police penned us in laughing at us telling us we were going to get battered when they eventually let us out..only for it to all kick off down at the train station, where the police arrived fashionably late to the scene to ensure there was carnage...I saw women & children caught up in the melee & a few kids getting hurt that day, and the police were the main cause of it IMO. Nice people the police, & it's why i'll never welcome them to the Silverlake. They cause more trouble than they resolve at football grounds IMO. The day out at Barnet this season, although less dramatic, was a simple example of how they felt they needed around 20 Policemen to deal with one very very small incident, that would not even have arose, had the police not been in attendance that day. A cynical me, would say they have to cause a bit of trouble to justify their "cost" and "overtime" for "attending" to "keep us all safe".....Laughable.

I have to agree - but there were great moments too. I recall one Boxing Day derby on a freezing day when the Directors of LTFC came round to all parts of the ground (Watford fans included) with trays of glasses, bottles of spirits and small cigars to cheer us up whilst we waited for the game to start - not quite in the tradition of the loaf and the fishes. Can you imagine the number of 'elf and safety laws that would break today?

That must have been in the Eric Morecombe days? I can't say I remember that happening, but it may have been before my time. Luton were always a good footballing side, but the Derby games were brutal affairs.

Well isn't that good news for Salisbury.
No so much for the £625K worth of creditors they had.
Wonder what they will end up with, 10p in the £1? At best I reckon.

Over £500,000 of the debt was loans that the previous owner had told the Conference and the FA he was writing off. When he sniffed the chance of getting up to £100,000 of it back through the administrator, he retracted that decision. No wonder there were no offers to take them out of administration.

Not many of us want to see AFC enter our name anywhere... I would personally hate to see that! Just happy to have a team to support again, if we get placed in the Wessex Premier, we'll take it and play in it happily. Just happy to have a team and start with a clean slate, with no debts, and hopefully, still be playing at the Ray Mac.
